Okay, so I'm starting to think about how to organize the dresser (which will also function as our changing station). What the heck do you need right there (within arms reach) when changing a little girl? I made a list...but haven't changed a diaper in probably 10 years, so thought I'd better check! TIA!
Re: What do I need to change a diaper?
We were told not to use baby powder, too. It is really easy for the baby to breathe in (even if you are careful with it) and really bad for their lungs.
Baby powder is also bad because of the perfumes and dyes in it. You don't want those things next to your baby's skin.
It can actually make a rash worse.
I guess they can breathe it in and it isn't good.
this!!!
This. I never applied butt cream and DD never got a rash. Just change your LO often.
LMAO! I dread the incidents that warrant a camera...but I know they'll happen!
Diaper, wipes, trash can, cream of some kind if you use it. Oh and a changing pad with cover, I also use the waterproof lap pads under baby's bum to keep the changing pad dry for longer.
ETA: the powder that is bad for baby's lungs is the talc based powder. If you use corn starch or corn starch based powder there should be no problem
All I have on the changing table is diapers and wipes. The Diaper Champ is also close by.
I won't be using any ointment unless a rash develops and also won't be using any powder unless there's a situation that would make him more comfortable by having a little powder. And I have cornstarch powder if I do need it.
I like the idea of putting a waterproof pad on top of the changing pad though. It would be much easier to toss in the laundry than having to take the cover off. I might try to get another pack of those. I have one in the pack n'play for just that reason!
haha.. so true! powder should be the least worry with all of the chemicals and crap in sposies.
This..they also slept in lead painted cribs and rubbed booze on babies teeth- So things and rules do change for a reason
