did your water break and where?

I know it's silly, but it's one of the main things I worry about.. My water breaking on my sofa, wood floors or bed! lol.. is it silly to put a pee sheet on my mattress now?

If it did... how messy was it to clean up?

My water broke at 2 am while I was sleeping in bed, I felt something that woke me up and jumped up and ran to the bathroom. I actually did not get anything on the bed though. Thank goodness bc I had meconium in my water and it would have been very gross to clean.

I had the fear of my water breaking in public and that it would gush out. The opposite happened. My water broke in bed, but it trickled very slowly. As soon as I felt it, I thought I peed in bed and ran to the bathroom. Luckily, none of the amniotic fluid got on the bed. It trickled so slowly that I walked around with a towel between my legs. I hear from many moms that their water broke when they were the most relaxed.

Mine broke in bed, I had puppy training pads on my couch, bed and car seat. I didnt want anything to get nasty. My water broke 3 weeks early so you can never be too prepared. I also wore maxi pads to help absorb the fluids.

Mine broke on the table at my 39 week dr's appt - the most ideal place ever, if you ask me! It was incredibly messy and broke in big, huge gushes so I don't think it's at all silly to prepare now. I'm certain if my water had broken in bed it would have ruined our mattress.

Mine broke with my last pregnancy, it broke when I stood up from sitting on the bed. I put a pad on and sat on a towel in the car. Even pulled my pants down, just in case, but it wasn't very much. I felt quite stupid once I saw how little there actually was. But I suppose some women have a large gush, I just never hear about that in real life, just in the movies.

Mine broke right after I took my clothes off to take a shower. I had JUST peed so I knew I didn't pee on myself, and there was a bit of blood mixed in. It was a trickle, not a gush.Not hard to clean at all. Just toweled it up.

My mom had the big dramatic water break with me (and my twin brother) as she was stepping onto the scale at the doctor's office.

My water broke at 4:45am while I was in bed. I felt a big movement and what felt like a karate chop to the cervix area. It didn't leak onto the bed, but started gushing as soon as I got up to go to the bathroom (it wasn't until it started gushing that I realized it had broken). It gushed and gushed and gushed for hours after it broke so i'm happy that it didn't get on the bed because it would have been impossible to clean.

My water broke on my couch. It wasn't a gush though. I was lying down watching a movie and I had a bad contraction so I sat up and felt a trickle. I actually thought it was discharge. I went to the bathroom and when I wiped I noticed brown stuff on the toilet paper (turned out to be meconium).

5:30am while laying in bed. I swear I felt it, but my mom says I'm nuts in the head for saying that. I got up and went to the bathroom. It sorta spurted out then trickled. I wore a heavy, overnight pad to the hospital. It was an hour drive and the pad was literally falling off when I got to the hospital.

Here's something they don't tell you to expect:
I told the nurse my pad was so saturated and needed something else. So she sticks towels between my legs and tells me that's what I'll be using from now on. Then they proceeded to walk me from labor triage to my labor room. I had to waddle down the hall in a HUGE hospital gown w/ towels between my legs.

Mine broke in bed around 11:20 pm. I was able to get towels quickly so most of it got on them. A little got on our hardwood floors but no big deal.

ETA: I felt 2 pops and then a huge gush that just kept coming!

Trust me, I was worried about this too! My broke when I stood up out of bed in the middle of the night, it was a huge gush... just felt like I peed myself but then with every contraction it happened. Definitely knew it was my water then!

Mine broke in the drive thru of a local BBQ restaurant. I actually had just left the hospital and stopped to get dinner. So I had left the hospital and was back at the hospital in 45 minutes. And mine was a HUGE gush. Im not sure about clean up my DH did that once I was admitted.

It broke at home with DS1 but I didn't realize that is what happened so I finished getting ready for work and worked a 1/2 day before finally calling L&D and going in. It wasn't messy. It felt like I had a big gush of discharge (kind of like if you have a gush with your period). There was no trickling feeling. I had 3 total gushes (hours apart) before I finally called L&D. I had an emergency c/s at 35wk, 5d with DS2 so my water didn't break with him.

this is exactly my experience too (minus the meconium). Felt a pop at 2am followed by a small trickle and I ran. As soon as I got in the bathroom and pulled down my pants it splashed everywhere! I made DH get me some towels and I shoved them in between my legs while I tried to pack a bag. The pads just didn't cut it.
