going to L&D...?

What happens when you go in? I just called at 6, I had about 6 BH in an hour, they told me to relax and drink 2 bottles of water and call back at 7 and let them know how many I've had. I've already had 3...so I know they're going to make me come in. I'm just looking for a heads up as to what the night holds for me. Monitoring? Poking and proding? lol

    When I went in because I thought my water broke (I peed my pants) they hooked me up to a fetal monitor and then the dr came in for an internal. (Only because of the water breakage possibility)  We were in and out in about 1 1/2 hours.

    I went to L&D once for some major bleeding.....back around week 20.  They hooked me up to the monitors, one for baby's heartbeat and one to monitor contractions, plus a blood pressure machine that checks your bp every 15 minutes or so.  That was about it for me.  They also gave me an IV of saline for hydration.  I had to stay over night.  Good Luck!!

    When I went in, I got hooked up to the moniters, and they just watched for contractions and baby's heartbeat for about half an hour.  Then my OB came in to check and see if I was dilated.  That was about it, not too bad.

    When I had to go in for the same thing they monitored me for a several hours.  LO seemed to stop misbehaving as soon as I got hooked up to the machine! They monitored my BP as well. Then the doctor came in and talked to me about what was going on then poked and proded a little. I was actually only there for about 5-6 hours then they sent me home telling me to take it easy, drink lots of water, and stay off my feet. I had a doctors appointment only 2 days later so they checked me again when I was there to make sure my cervix had not opened! I hope that everything is ok, keep us updated on the turn out! GL

    I went in on Thursday (OB sent me after my regular appointment). I know I'm full term, so it may be different. I had an internal, they told me to walk the halls for 2 hours. They checked me again and  I was further effaced, but not any more dilated, so I was sent home.

    they hook you up to a monitor to check how strong your contractions are. sometimes you will get an u/s.

    I was there last night for 4 hrs for contractions. They had me do 3 NSTs, 2 urine samples, ended up with a straight cathator (sp?), BP machine, and 1 internal. I only had some more 'extensive' testing because this was the 2nd time I was in l & d with contractions. It never hurts to get checked!

    Same thing happened to me last night...they monitored the baby for an hour and half, checked me for an internal twice, checked my urine, and sent me on my way!
