Do you think this is worth it?

Anderson sleeps best when he is elevated.  He is a pretty gassy fellow and has a little bit of reflux.  I have been letting him sleep in his swing on extra fussy nights.  I don't know how bad that is, but I found this and thought about getting it. WDYT?  Would you just let your LO sleep in the swing?

  • I'm not super keen on the sides going all the way up since he's so small he could flop into a corner while sleeping.

At such a young age maybe use a baby wedge or sleep positioner 'a hot dog' or 'wedge' and that way he'll have air circulation around his face without any obstructions.

  • A friend of mine just told me about this last week, actually.  I thought it was an actual person that comes in when you nap.  (I love in a dream world.)  Her baby had horrible reflux, to the point where he was in the hospital a lot, and she said her life would have been so much easier if she'd had one of those from the beginning.  So if he's suffering from a reflux even a little she'd probably tell you it was worth it.

ETA: I asked her what she'd say to you and this is what she said:

" in that case, i'd tell her to get it. swing sleeping is "ok" but the nap nanny can be taken with you when you travel and stuff. plus sometimes silent refluxers have higher choking risks (and this will help)"

She also recommends you speak with a doctor about any signs of reflux since it's pretty tricky.  Her poor little boy spent most of the first few months of his life in the hospital with it so she's very conservative about reflux.

  • umm, holy heck, I just looked at the price.

Nope. Get a sleep positioner and do a back position with a slight side wedge instead- it'll cost you all of $20.

  • I've been thinking about then napnanny as well. I also found the AR Pillow wich is much cheaper, I think it was $60. I read as well that you can elevate one end of the mattress and there are companies that make special sheets that you use to strap the baby in like you would the swing to keep them in place. With my son he really prefers to lay on his stomach. I don't know if you have tried this but putting my baby to sleep like that has helped as well. The AR Pillow has a harness and you can strap them in on their stomach.
  • My son had horrible reflux for a year. He slept in his bouncer until he was 6 months old. This product would make me nervous that he would suffocate.I'd do the AR pillow instead.
