What is the point of a gift exchange if everyone just buys gift cards?! Every year at my grandma's we draw names for the adults. At LEAST half the gifts are gift cards. This year my uncle did some investigating for the rest of us to see what people want - almost everyone said a gc! Seriously, we should all just go out and buy ourselves a $40 gift to unwrap. At least then there'll be sh!t to unwrap.
I buy gifts. If they don't like it, eff 'em.

I like gift exchanges where ppl mention themes that they like. Like lets say I like butterflies, the Redskins and reading crime thrillers then someone could get me something along those lines.
PS- I dont really like any of those things. :-)
Exactly. This year they decided to draw names for the kids. When I suggested just doing gifts for the kids and not the adults (who all just go buy what they want when they want it), it started an argument. Some people are just total drama queens.
My DH's family is super hard to buy for. Every year I tell him that he needs to make the decision on what to get them and every year he has no idea. Normally I will find something small for them and then we give them a GC too. The refuse to give us any hints or help.
