TTC After a Loss

My dh is going to be mad at me.

We were supposed to announce our pregnancy on Christmas, so naturally this Christmas BLOWS and I'm not in the holiday spirit at all.....I just can't wait for them to be over.

SOoooo.....I decided today that I'm going to (quietly) take down ALL of our Christmas decorations on Christmas night after dh goes to bed. I'm going to completely de-holiday our home. I want to wake up on Dec . 26th  and pretend this Christmas just never happened.

Dh is going to be pissed, but they say it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission, right?

  • Well, you're at least waiting until after Christmas though. I'd think he'd be more pissed if you did it before. But really, how can he complain too much? You aren't even asking him to help!

  • Yea, I know what you mean. Last year we announce baby #1 on Christmas Eve. It totally sucks! I'm trying to stay positive though.
  • I know that he'll be ok with it once I explain that it makes me very sad to see all the Christmasey stuff.

However, if I bring this up BEFORE I take it all down, it'll turn into a well intentioned, but long drawn-out try-to-make-lindsay-feel-better session.

  • I think he will understand. I would do it without telling him either. It's just easier that ways.

  • I  know exactly how you feel.  We announced it (very early) to family on Christmas last year and I'm really just not feeling it this year.  I hope I can snap out of it and at least fake it for a few hours on Christmas Day...I think a huge pile of presents from the in-laws might help.
