I know it is still kinda early, but I was going through a list of names and came across Asher. My hubby likes it.... what do you think? Any other possible names similar to this?
One of my brother's best friends from high school is named Asher, I've always liked it. He's the only Asher I've ever known, though I'm seeing it mentioned here more lately.

My friend has 3 boys. Eldest is Asher, and it was the first I'd heard of it. It's become a lot more popular in recent years, I've noticed. A similar name is Ashton, but b/c of Kutcher, it's bleh to me. Still like Asher a lot.

It has a sci-fi reference of some sort, but I don't really know what it is. But just an FYI. My friend is a nanny for an Asher and he's adorable. The name really works for him and I think it's cute. But I guess for die hard fans of whatever book this comes from, it's like naming your kid Frodo.
Love it! Asher is our son's middle name. We would have considered using it for a first name but our last name rhymes with Asher, so we didn't want to go that route.

It is actually a biblical name--one of Jacob's sons. While it may have been in some sci fi book/movie that is not its origin.

It's on our list too
So yes, I like it.
My husband likes it too, because the greatest horror movie hero just happens to be named Ash...
Other names that are semi-unusual on our list that you might like (even though they aren't exactly similar) are Trace, Reece and Jude.
