I didn't read the post but no way. We live in 1000 sq ft house, generously, and it's a perfect size for DH and I...with the two kids it's a bit cramped, but we've gotten good at paring down our toys. I can't imagine such little space!

I wouldn't want to but it'd sure beat being homeless. Look at some of the living arrangements the Japanese use because there are SO many people crammed in a tiny island. Nakagin Capsule Tower They don't even think of it as being cramped, it's just cool to them. Craziness to me though. Stick out tongue

Look at the hotel rooms! They look more like dog kennels in a vet hospital.

I don't even like to sleep with DH in a bed smaller than a king size. No way I'd not kill him if we lived in 175 sq. ft.

I don't know if i could live in 175sq ft ALONE.

I lived alone in a 250 sq ft flat when i lived abroad and THAT was not fun.

No. DH and I are naturally drawn to small spaces and could very easily live in less than 1,000 sq. ft. but not that small!

I lived in a small one room cabin when I was a newly single mother of 2 kids. My current husband and I talk all the time about living in a small cabin again. I don't recal the square footage at the time, but I loved it! before I moved in my sister and her husband and son lived there.

There's something about living in a small space that brings you closer together (ha ha ha, just realized the pun there).

thats nuts- they don't even have a table to sit at. They said they don't cook but they have a blender and a panini maker in one of the cabinets.

I read that article a few days ago.

I love my husband dearly. But if the two of us had to share a 175 sq ft studio, someone would wind up strangled...and it wouldn't be me.

I lived in a cabin that was less than 250 sq. ft. with my boyfriend (now DH) for about three years. We also had our cat, a friend and his cat in the sauna, another friend and her dog on the couch, and another friend and his girlfriend slept in my VW bus. All of us still get along great and the only arguements we ever had was who's turn it was to do the dishes. Noone ever got strangled, although once I told DH that I was going to "cut him up into little tiny pieces and put him under my bus." (I was talking in my sleep...glad he didn't hold it against me!)

They are called Micro Apartments and they totally fascinate me! You also have to figure where they live-NYC. Many people who live they have tiny kitchens or larger ones and don't use them at all because there are so many great restaurants around. That's just the lifestyle. Plus, people in NYC don't stay cooped up in their houses much-they are out and about most of the time. I'm an interior designer and once wanted to specialize in these apartments-the whole concept is to figure out what is important to you, and only keep those things surrounding you in your lives. Fascinating. I wouldn't want to live in one that tiny with a baby, however think it would be a great experience.

No way! Maybe without the cats. Plus no matter what, when he farts, it's automatically a dutch oven! Ahhh, she couldn't get away from him! lol I lived in a 550 sq. ft. place with my DH when we first started out after college. We look back on it and laugh...nice feeling to have come far....we live in an 1100 sq ft place now. Wooohooo!

Absolutely not. I can't even fathom how tiny that really is. When I was single my apartment was 800 sq ft and I felt like that was perfect for just me.

Yeap, I've lived several years basically in one room & it was fine. Even w/ DH, as long as we were both working I could do it. With kids or as a SAHM no freaking way but as a full-time working couple sure. The thought of not having housework or "fix-ups" to do constantly is pretty appealing right now.
