cramps at 27w?

far as i iknow, BH contractions shouldn't be painful.  for the last 2 days or so, i've had what are like menstrual cramps right under my belly.  they are slightly painful, but usually only last a few seconds.

i'm just wondering if maybe it could be b/c i am constipated?  or gas pains?

i don't want to run to my OB for every little thing, and i figure 1) if i still feel the babies regularly, and 2) if i've had these cramps for the last 2 or 3 days and am obviously not in labor, then i shouldn't worry?

did anyone else have anything similar?

Re: cramps at 27w?

  • Hi, I can't relate, but I was told that anytime I feel anything remotely close to menstrual like pains, especially if they last only a few seconds and then return again (kinda like a light contraction), I should call my OB/MFM.  The way I see it is better safe than sorry.

  • Call your doctor. I thought for 2 days that I was just having cramps and then it ended up being labor. My girls were born last week at 31 weeks 5 days because they couldn't get it stopped. I don't mean to scare you, but it's better to be safe than sorry! Your doctor would rather you call if you are concerned.
  • I agree with the PPs. I'm currently in LandD for that same type of cramping, although mine were lasting more than a few seconds - like 20 to 30. My cervix is shortening, and I am now on constant Procardia to keep the contractions at bay. I'm also waiting for my second steriod shot to mature my little one's lungs. So I guess the short answer would be - call your dr! That's what they're there for :)
