Twins Kicking

I've been feeling a lot little kicks over the last couple of weeks, but it seems to be only on one side.  I sometimes feel a little flutter very low on the other side, but it worries me that one baby seems far more active than the other.  Could their positions be why?  Am I nuts to worry about this?

Re: Twins Kicking

  • Yeap, positions would do it.  Also, the position of the placenta(s) will have an effect as well.  I usually feel baby B a lot more than A because of where their placentas are and because baby A is deeper inside of me.

  • I think that I only feel one baby at a time - and mostly just in one spot -down in the pelvis.  I have seen the other one moving on the u/s, but I can't feel her.  Must be a position / organs in the way thing.

Last night they were both definitely moving around and boy was it STRANGE.  It felt like one giant baby kicking me low in the pelvis and up in my ribs at the same time.  Whoa.

  • I feel lots of kicks in on ares to the right of my belly button and over. Both babies are laying head down toward my left hip/pelvis area...so both feet are in the same area...which made it very hard at our last ultrasound to get a clear shot for either as they are pratically on top of each other! I do from time to time feel something going on down by my pelvis...arms moving I assume...but mostly kicks
  • This was happening to me too, and it was FREAKING me out. Turns out that one baby is head down, the other is across, so both feet are in the same area, on the right, So all of the activity is on that side!

  • could be all four feet are in the same general area. dont worry, its still really early to feel kicking anyway, it will get stronger and more destinct as they get bigger.
  • totally normal!  could be baby's position, or placenta position.

this was an issue for me almost till delivery.  baby b seemed so quiet, but likely she was kicking her sister, who then kicked me ;)

still, when you are further along... i think after 27 or 28wks, you might start doing kick counts (my ob said they were optional).  i did make a couple trips to L&D just to make sure - but that was later on, and since i was on bedrest it was the only way to get out of the house!

  • Don't worry, my baby A was way more active than my baby B. Baby B was facing in and baby A was facing out so I felt her a lot more and both of them are fine :)
  • I feel Baby A all the time now, and Baby B basically never.  When I had my u/s a week ago, Baby B was dancing all over the place and boxing at my belly, and I couldn't feel a thing.

  • Good to know it's not uncommon!  Baby A was harder to see in the 18 wk u/s and was probably the one hiding in the first one at 9 weeks because she's further back.  I have an u/s in two weeks, and I'll feel even better then when I see her moving around on the screen like her brother!

  • Luke was always more active b/c Max was "behind" his placenta AND THEN, it got even worse toward the end b/c Max was wedged b/t my pelvis and Luke's head - totally limiting his movement.
