Tiny bit of spotting - call DR?

I have had a tiny tiny bit of brownish spotting yesterday and today.  Do you call the doc for this?

Re: Tiny bit of spotting - call DR?

  • I would but that's just me.

  • If its brown, no.

eta: at your next appointment I would mention it to them so they can put it in your file, but brown blood is old blood. So I wouldn't worry.

  • No, I wouldn't call for a "tiny" bit of old blood.

  • It's up to you! If you aren't worried, don't call. If you want to talk it over with the doc or nurse, then call! No harm either way.

  • You should really only worry if it is pink/red, you experience cramping, and it is more than just spotting.
  • I'd call. If they think it's not a big deal, the nurse will let you know not to worry about it. Every practice and OB is different!

  • I called yesterday about the same problem and the nurse told me a small amount of brown is normal and to call back if it changed or if my cramps were worse or different. Today I'm having no problems.

  • In my own personal experience, the old "brown blood is old blood and is not bad" is bullshiit.  See my siggy and you will see why.

I'm not trying to scare you, but if I were you, call your doc.

  • I have had brown/bright red spotting on and off for a little over a week. I have minor cramping too, but not all the time. The night I noticed the spotting my DH e-mailed our OB who got back to us at 5 that it is completely normal. In the meantime I had been online and totally freaked myself out! A few days ago we had our first ultrasound and everything is fine. I suggest you call the Dr. for peace of mind. I felt better as soon as he got back to us and didn't even want to see me.
  • With DD, I had brown spotting for 3 days at 9 weeks. I didn't call or go in (because I had the nest...prior to bump days) and all was well.
