3rd Trimester

I could strangle my dog.

We have a Westie, whom I love but she is a PITA sometimes. Last night at about 3 DH says " I want to kill the dog". I act like I am sleeping bc I don't wanna have to speak and usually that just means she had to pee more than once at night. Well, not the case this time! She got into my purse, ate half a bottle of tums, some craisins, tried getting into my mini bag of popcorn and chewed up some of my hair clips my mom gave to me for Ella. I was livid, but what can you do really? By the time I saw it (6:30) she had forgotten what she had done and I couldn't really get onto her. I just pointed at my purse, told her bad girl and said not yours. I think she got it. Oh, gotta love dogs! I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world though.

Re: I could strangle my dog.

  • I feel ya. I've had PP about my MIL spoiling the crap out of my dog when we were home for Thanksgiving and I'm still trying to get her back on track. She has apparently forgotten how to listen to anything I say, and has taken up barking and whining at all times of the day...AND night...which she never did before. It's driving me absolutely insane.

  • Don't you just love dogs?  We felt bad for our Monday since she was stuck out in the rain all day when we were at work so we left her in the house for a couple hours alone while we went to our breast feeding class.  She ate one of my snowman decorations and played with some pieces of my Christmas village.  You can't punish them after the fact because they don't know any better.  I tell her it's a good thing she's so stinking cute otherwise she'd end up at the pound.
  • Watch her for any diarrhea or vomiting.  Raisins can be poisonous to certain dogs, depending on how well their body tolerates the raisins.  I've only seen raisin poising once, from a dog that ate a large quantity of them.

That is why i took my dog to a foster family. I could not take it anymore. After he chewed the trim that was it! I had him for 5 years. Besides he would not have been good with kids. For the first time i am animal free and i love it!

  • One of my dogs will tear apart a purse if you have gum inside.  And then eat the whole pack lol.  Maybe keep your purse somewhere else higher up?

I think you're dogs a genius for eating all that crap and then being smart enough to top it off with the Tums.

    Just sayin....lol

Pretty sure I agree with that statement. I think she has seen mommy eat so many she figured out what they are used for.

She was completely fine this morning. No diarrhea, or vomiting and she was eating normally. They were cranberries, not raisins.

  • hahahaha, you sound like me recently!!  My dog is downright adorable (lab/rottie/some kind of smaller breed mix-about 40lbs) and she is a thief!  She loves to be chased whens he steals one of our socks or shoes--she's also obsessed with getting my scarf.  Since I can't really get to her right now she stands at the end of the hall completely confused as to why I'm not rushing down there to get her-lol.

She said craisins-- I'm not sure if cranberries have the same effect on dogs as grapes.

Also, my dog remembers what she's done when she's brought to the scene of the crime.  We took her upstairs to the baby's room the other day and pointed at the spot on the wall where she'd ripped the paint/drywall off, and said "What is this??" and she tucked tail and looked very guilty.

Your dog tells on herself! That's too funny!! I really think she did it because we were gone all day and most of the evening. She gets pissed when there is a lack of attention and starts messing crap up. I can't imagine putting our LO into the mix.

If it makes you feel any better, my aunt's dog goes in her purse, and steals her money.

Imagine having to deal with that all the time?  you know you have money, you just don't know where your dog hid it?!

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!

  • My dog likes to take things off the counter and eat them.  We can't leave anything out or she gets into it.  She ate the left over cake from my baby shower this past weekend and I could have killed her.  But like everyone else, I am not home to witness it so punishing does not good.  PS she will never go near the counter when we are home.

    Ha ha ha too funny!!!

Baby number two! Coming soon! June 8th.
  • Our little girl is just over a year old so, she still sleeps in the kennel at night.  Nothing would be safe if she were out!  WE did puppy training classes with her and I think we failed.  She'll do the commands whe we have treats and she wants too but, if she's got something she really wants "drop it" doesn't even phase her.  The good thing is most the time I can call her and she'll come to me and I can pull it away from here.  At least I don't have to chase her!
  • I hear you. Yesterday my parents 2 dogs (we're living here until after Christmas) were fighting and my mom said, "Are they killing each other in there?" My reply was, "One can only hope". LOL! I love dogs but they drive me nuts sometimes!!

  • I'm with you.  We have two Westies and they are too short to get up into our bed on their own so at about 1am EVERY SINGLE NIGHT they come to my side of the bed, put their paws on the mattress and scratch until I pick them up.  Even if DH wakes them up and calls them over to his side of the bed, they won't move.  Then, when I lean over to pick them up, they run away like its a funny game.  I keep threatening DH that he's going to come home from work one day and there will be two little westie heads mounted over the fireplace.

Omg, I'm with you today! I think our mini schnauzer is feeling threatened by the baby already, he pooped in the nursery last night AND this morning. To make it worse, I had JUST taken him out and waited for about 20 minutes for him to do his business. After we were both frozen, I figured I'd just bring him inside and try later. What does he do? He runs immediately to the nursery and poops right in front of the crib. I flipped, and he's in timeout right now. He's my baby, and I love him, but enough is enough!

    P.S. Westies = adorable

Our Jack Russell has been doing lots of similiar things lately-- I went online and read about it, because DH was so pissed I thought he was going to take him to the pound.  It actually seems to be a real thing where the dog can sense something is happening and gets anxiety.  He has peed in the house about 6 times in the past week, pooped on the floor several times, and also gotten into things he should not-- all of these things are unlike him.  I decided to try and give him some extra tlc and that seems to be doing the trick!
