Re Avent bottle sterilizer What is it?!

I did not register for one, but a friend bought it and said it was a MUST.  I don't get it, what is it?!!? lol... Instead of washing my bottle's I just rinse em out, but them in here, pop em in the microwave and it cleans/sterilize's(sp) them?

    I put it on my registry because my friends sister has it and loves it!  You just gotta be careful taking it out of the microwave and opening the lid so you don't get scalded by the steam!

    I have no idea....Everyones told me those kinds of things are waste...just like wipe warmer.

    People have been having babies forever with out those kinds of amenities!

    You still have to wash them with soap and water. A sterilizer won't get bottles clean if they have milk on them. Basically a sterilizer takes the place of boiling the bottles and nipples. However, it is only necessary to sterilize before the first use and every now and again if you want to. Most people don't realize that. I used to sterilize DS bottles after every use until I realized that it was not necessary.

    I didn't realize that it wasn't necessary to sterilize them every time...

    We put one on our registry, but only because FI was going "click crazy" with the computer. lol! He put half the stuff on there before I even knew he'd clicked on it. He has a three year old girl, and he says he wished he'd had the sterilizer and wipe warmer and unnecessary junk like that with her.

    I say if it turns out to be more trouble than it's worth, we won't use it. Otherwise, what's the harm?

    We are getting one, but because we don't have a dishwasher. We also have well water, and I question it sometimes because we live right next to a river. So I plan on washing the bottles and then sterilizing them.
