Did you have a c-section? Was it planned, or "emergency." What were the reasons?

  • My water broke at 36 weeks and my baby was breech so needed a c-section.
  • no, DD was born vaginally 4 days early.  My water broke on its own, and I had no problems in delivery.  I don't think delivery is correlated with supply.

this except my son was born eleven days early

  • DS was born vaginally at 39w4d with no complications.
  • Emergency due to placental abruption, which was determined while I was pushing. Her head was almost out  when they saw I was losing a lot of blood.

ETA: I agree that most times delivery complications don't always spell supply problems, but in my case I know it didn't help.  My blood loss really affected my recovery and I've been told I still may not be recovered completely.  Certainly not emotionally, anyway!  I was attempting a med free birth and had no drugs whatsoever right up until the spinal for the c/s.

  • C-Section...failure to dilate after 4cm and 20hours..
  • C-section, I had pre-e and a 30 hour failed induction, opted for the c-section to prevent an emergency.

  • I was induced at 37 weeks for pre-e.  While I had no complications during delivery - only 12 hours - yeah!, I was hospitalized twice after deliver (within the first month) for other health problems I developed.  I'm sure that didn't help my supply much - I was in too much pain to nurse properly, but I kept at it.  I'm not sure if any of that has to do with my supply issues, but it might.
