Pregnant after a Loss

***March Lucky Clovers Check-In***

Good morning ladies!  How are you all feeling?

QOTD:  Have you written out a birth plan?  Will you?

QOTD 2:  Are there any holiday traditions you are looking forward to in the next few weeks?

Re: ***March Lucky Clovers Check-In***

  • Good morning & Happy Friday !!

I'm so excited to be in the 100 day countdown !! WOW!

We haven't written out a birth plan yet, but plan to - we are doing hypnobirthing and really excited about it :)

Our christmas is condensed this year as we're visiting both families -

but I'm excited to see my neices and nephews - especially those who don't live close!

  • QOTD:  I wasn't planning on writing out a birth plan since we are having baby at home, but the other day I was at an ICAN meeting and some one mentioned having 2 birth plans - one for vbac and one for repeat c-section.  So I am going to write one up in case I have another c-section.  I know the hospital won't care much about it, but my MW and DH would be there and it might help them to have everything written down - immediate breastfeeding, no pacifiers, baby stay with me rather than be taken for 2 hours to the nursery while I recover, etc.

QOTD 2:  DH and I get chinese food on Christmas night every year after running all over town to all of our family.

  • Good morning Clovers!

QOTD: I will have a type of birth plan. Mostly the c/s is out of my hands, but the after stuff is what I am concerned about. I feel pretty strongly about Ellie not leaving me if she doesn't have to, so I'm going to make my feelings known to everyone involved.

QOTD: I love this time of year. It's chock-a-block full of tradition. And I think that tradition is my favorite part of the season! We go look at lights with hot cocoa and Christmas music; we have a huge feast of the seven fish, open presents, and go to Mass with my mom and family; we have Christmas muffins in the morning with DH's family; we spend all day at Grandma IL's house with the entire family...it's all just so much fun. I can't wait!

  • Happy Friday ladies!

QOTD: I am not going to write out a birth plan because I am the type of person that if I have my mind set on a "plan" and it doesnt work out exactly like I envisioned it (which it very rarely does) I get upset.  Instead I am talking with my Dr in depth about my wanting DD to be put on me RIGHT AWAY... no cleaning first.  And since we are delivering at a baby friendly hospital most of my concerns are their concerns as well.... BF, no pacis, spending as much time with mom and dad, etc.

I am excited for this eyar being the first year DH does EVERYTHING Christmas with my family.  In the past we have gone to see his family in FL but this year we went to FL for Thanksgiving instead.  We will go to church Christmas eve night and spend the night at my parent's house, wake up and do presents and stockings and eat Bubble Bread my very fav!

  • QOTD:  Have you written out a birth plan?  Will you?  We haven't yet. With a repeat c-section, there's not much to write. We will, though, write out some requests to make this experience different from when Isaac was delivered... things like bringing our own baby blankets and caps and not using the ones the hospital provided, requesting a room that's nowhere near the room I was in after Isaac was born, etc. My nurse and I have actually become really close friends. She will be doing my delivery with Eliana as well (she did Isaac's), and has assured me that she will make sure the hospital is really sensitive to our needs. It's nice to know someone on the inside :)

QOTD 2:  Are there any holiday traditions you are looking forward to in the next few weeks Truthfully, not really. The holidays are hitting me really hard. It's not our first Christmas without Isaac (that was last year), but the fact that he would be 14 months and completely mezmorized by the lights, decorations, etc is just hard. We will be going to the cemetery Christmas morning, which is something we plan to do each year... I wish I was more in the holiday spirit, but it's just hard.

  • Happy Friday ladies!

I am feeling well.. baby girl is kicking away... which I LOVE!

QOTD: I had a check up earlier this week and was a little disappointed with my OBs suggestions as far as how the "deal" with women from where I live.  (DH and I live on an island without a hospital... so my OB is an hour and a half ferry ride... not including waiting in line... or a 20 minute chartered flight).  My OB said they typically induce women from the island ... which I do not support... unless there is a medical reason... this has me thinking that I need to come up with a solid birth plan... I may need to leave work early and stay in a hotel near the hospital ... either that... get a flight set up for mid march and hope the weather is OK When I go into labor... hmmm?? NICE.

To make a long store short...  I am working on a plan.

QOTD2:  FUDGE... ((I was SO happy to find out I don't have GD!!!))

  • Hi there lovely ladies!

QOTD 1:  We have not written a birth plan yet.  Overall, I really like both the hospital and my dr's group--and feel that their thinking is pretty in line with ours.  We have some hospital classes coming up in the next few weeks and hope to have a deeper understanding or our own wants and needs then.

QOTD 2:  I love Christmas!  I am excited for the special foods that both my family and dh's make.  The festivitivies will start Christmas eve morning when dh and I exchange.  We then head to his family's to celebrate and all go to mass together.  Christmas morning we then head to my mother's house for a morning with the immediate family afterwhich all the aunts, uncles, cousins and so forth make their way over.  I think that my favorite part of the holiday beyond the religious aspects is the opportunity to give--I love the challenge of coming up with a special gift for everyone and seeing them open it.

  • Cougar, as someone who had an induction, I wouldn't want one that was medically unnecessary either.  Have you thought about homebirth with a good mw?
  • QOTD1:
I haven't. I'm still deciding whether or not I want to create one. I need to really start thinking about it.

    QOTD2:
We have a yummy breakfast on Christmas morning. We have a huge Christmas dinner later on, and afterwards we listen to Christmas music and play games until the wee hours of the morning. It's so much fun. My sister and I are the reigning Taboo and Scattergories queens. No one in our family can beat us. LOL. We go to church on New Year's eve and then afterwards we always have breakfast complete with homemade biscuits. Yum!

  • I have not written out a birth plan and most likely won't.  I still don't know if I'll get to have a vaginal birth yet or if I'll end up with a csection.  I really don't want to make any plans until I get a better idea of what my delievery will be like.

As far as Christmas traditions I am looking forwards to all the baking and foods my mom makes.  She has so many things that she only makes a Christmas time and I just found out today that I passed my glucose test so I am looking forward to eating!.

From miscarriages, a diagnosis of a bicornuate uterus, and fibroid removal surgery...It's been quite the journey but it was all well worth it. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I'm not sure about a birth plan yet. I like to plan but this is something I'm not sure if I can or want to as it never seems to go how you set it ip. We'll see. I love the holidays but we have so much running to do! I am looking forward to next year and starting new traditions!

  • Hi ladies! The last few weeks I am FINALLY feeling like I can let down a few walls and start to enjoy this pregnancy for the remainder of it. The knowledge that even if something were to happen now she could most likely survive really takes a lot of weight off my shoulders :)

Havent actually written out a birth plan yet but I have a general idea of what I want to do. I called the hospital 2 days ago to sign up for classes, and they cant fit me in until the month of February, and Im due 3/2 eek! But having been through the labor process once Im not too worried about it.

For holidays this year I bought a cute ornament of a couple where the girl has a pregnant belly, and had my daughter-to-be's name engraved on the front of it.
