My hope is this will help bring about even more exposure for prematurity awareness and how serious it really is.
Yes. I couldn't agree more.
This. But its really sad that there has to be a celebrity to experience it in order to bring it to people's attention.
And there goes the show. No way should they let camera people and staff in their house once she comes home (please let her come home!). Too much risk of germs.

I hope the baby will be okay. There's a point where you should realize your body can't do this anymore, and that it's selfish to try. I really hope they don't keep producing more children.

ITA! I am all for them living whatever lifestyle they choose, but it can't be safe for her to continue having too many more children. I hope they reevaluate their stand on procreation.

I would certainly hope so. And again, I hope they make a big deal of WHY they can't do the show anymore, the risks, etc. So many people believe that prematurity is not a big deal.

There's enough guilt associated with having a preemie, it's all too easy to blame yourself even though there are bajillions of things that can cause it (and we don't *know* what caused it for her). I feel sorry for her because she's probably going to hear a lot of these comments and that will only make it harder for her.

You read my mind. I was wondering if they will reveal if the doctors think/know why her LO came so early. My heart goes out to that tiny little baby!

Uh...I haven't seen anything that associated Josie's early birth with Michelle's age. As many women on here can tell you, it can happen to any mother at any age.

It's true we don't know for sure, but number 18 was a preemie that had to be born by emergency c-section, just like this one (but not as early). I don't think it's out of the ballpark, to say that after 19 kids and her advance age, her body can't do this anymore, and she needs to stop trying.

Yes, but risks of all kinds are increased with age. That is a proven fact.
Also, though I'm not sure if this is true, it seems logical to me that there must be some wear and tear going on after physically producing 19 children.
IMO I think once your kids are having kids, its time to stop. Adventually one of these babies will be born then not make it. I feel for them and I hope lil josie makes it out alright. But I do hope they stop reproducing and try to enjoy their grandbabies & the kids they already have.

I hope so, too: I'm not sure people realize how serious being a 25 weeker is. Not that people.com really had any other option, but the tone of the story was like, "Yippee! The Duggar baby is here!" which doesn't convey how tenuous the situation probably is medically....while it's reassuring that advances in medicine mean that now, many premature babies survive today when they may not have years ago, it doesn't mean that it's not still without real, real challenges. I'm praying for them...
Actually, the 18th child was only born a couple weeks early (Born Dec. 18th with a Jan. 1st due date) and the reason for that c-section was because she was in the side-ways (transverse?) position. It was not an emergency.
I agree with the above posters that she is going to have enough guilt. I'll wait to see the reason for the emergency c-section before making any judgments on whether or not she needs to stop having children. This could've happened to anyone, whether it be their 1st, 5th, or 19th.
I hope that the TLC crew will give this family the privacy they need during this time.
Re: so the duggar super-preemie story was true, or so says perez.
Yes. I couldn't agree more.
25 weeks.
It's on TLC's website so I don't doubt it is true, it's pretty much the same story as people.com.
PP said that she was 25 weeks.
