Success after IF

f/u to Early Intervention post below...

Doctor just called and said all looks fine on x-ray and he's perfect. So at least his failure to roll over isn't structural.

Thanks for all the reassurance...I have to admit, anytime we have a scare like this (concern about hypospadius or something like that - penile abnormality, heart ekg for his murmur) I worry that if something is wrong, people will blame IVF and therefore us for conceiving that way. Embarrassed  Even if there's no actual causative link.

Either way, SO glad he's ok.

  • So glad that Toodle is ok. Some babies just take longer to "get it". Hayden has been a late roller and still does not do it consistantly.

  • I'm glad he is ok too!!! and honestly I would give it a lot more time before being worried about the rolling.  Some kids just don't care to do it.
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • DS is stubborn and doesn't roll all the time either....except when we have a photographer trying to get his pictures. lol (he chose to "perfect" that skill during our last photo session). Every baby is different and its too bad that your pedi had to worry you so much. Some babies just take longer to do it and it's not a big deal.
  • so glad the x-ray was ok.

    whew!

i'll keep my fingers crossed that J starts roll roll rolling soon!

  • I'm glad to hear he is okay.  We have friends who have a little girl who wasn't crawling or showing any interest in walking when she turned 1.  They ended up doing some physical therapy with her.  Now, at 2 1/2 she is moving around just fine.  The therapist just concluded she wasn't motivated to be mobile before.

I'm sure he will catch on - and catch up - when he is ready.  You are a great mom!

  • Tootle is PERFECT!!!!!!  He will roLL over in his own time!!!!!!!

we've gotten the chat behind our backs about the ivf...cousins baby was born a month before J and J was doing "things" before their baby and they would be totally shocked whowwwwwww he can do that(implied and he was made in a dishhhhh) you can hear it in their voice... apparently at their babys baptism(theyare UBERRRRRRRR catholic) creepiLy so and someone said in front of dh's cousin(sibling of babys parent)that our baby wasnt REAL because he was concieved through IVF!!!!!!!!

people are nuts and thats just plain it nuts.....if "they" would blame iVF its because they are IGNORANT!

  • I am just getting caught up, but great news!!

  • I'm glad he's ok. every baby is different and I am sure he will be just fine!
  • I'm glad you got good news!  Rolling over isn't a significant milestone, so it's a good one on which to be delayed IMO. ;)   As I said in your other post, DD waited until 9 months and did it perfectly and effortlessly from Day 1!  She was walking less than 2 months later, LOL. :)

  • as I said in my FB email.  I actually looked at my baby calendar and I put 'rolls over' at 6m6d...definitely over 6months.

I counted it when he could fully do a roll.  after he mastered that, he started rolling everywhere instead of crawling - that was cool!!!

DS definitely takes awhile to get things, but I don't remember if they asked me at his 6m appt - in other words they didn't ask and weren't concerned.
