I'm not talking about pregnancy brain... I just mean, there's so much to know. For people who aren't/never have been pregnant, it seems like it really wouldn't take that much knowledge.. but it does. It seems like every day I am learning something I didn't know before... and usually it's scary. O_O
Anybody else starting to feel dumb about all the things you didn't/don't know about pregnancy?
Re: Does being pregnant ever make you feel stupid?
I think it did initially... I didn't realize how clueless I was about pregnancy until I got pregnant and started reading about it. It is COMPLETELY different than I thought it would be!
Over the last nine months, I think I've really learned a lot but there's still so much that I don't know... I think the same could be said for motherhood though. I'm sure I'll be just as clueless about what it will be like to be a mom, but I'll learn what I need to as I go along...
For reals! Like I didn't know that a pocket of blood could collect between your placenta and amniotic sack, causing them to detach and resulting in bleeding and cramping... but look who's on bed rest because of it!
It's like every time something happens I'm like, "Where the hell did that come from? Pregnancy is supposed to be fun! And I'm supposed to know what happens next!"
The joke is on me!
I definitely won't pretend that I have the whole pregnancy thing down...but my knowledge of pregnancy is about 1 million times greater than my knowledge of babies.
My friends who have kids might as well be speaking Japanese to me ...I'm sure I'll do fine, but I'm predicting a lot of late night calls to my mother.
This is my second successful pregnancy and there's still so much to learn! For example, since I was induced the first time, I don't know what it feels like to go into labor spontaneously and it makes me nervous that I won't know when it happens, well, at this point, if it happens. Or didn't know what NST meant until Wednesday (Fetal Non Stress Test).
I read more books the first time around so I didn't even bother picking up any books this time except for The Pregnancy Journal, which I love. But I have picked up a lot of info from these boards. Thanks Bump!
Yep... it sure does. I thought it was funny that I was reading "Your Pregnancy: Week by Week" and in week TWENTY-NINE or something it said, "Oh,and pregnant women should never drink green tea."
Really? Thanks.
Thankfully I've been around my niece and nephew since they were born (3 1/2 yrs and 11 months old), and my mom and sister both live within 5 mins of me, so I'll have tons of help.
Yeah, if pregnancy makes me feel stupid then motherhood will probably make me feel like a...
Oops.
Man, I'm totally going to have a Hulk Baby.
