Identical twins in pics ?

This may be a silly question but I am a little concerned that when my babies come and are really little and we take all these pictures that later when we look back we won't be able to tell them apart in those pictures.  Most all of the clothes that we got from people (we got a ton) are matching and we didn't plan to do a different color for each baby as some people do.  I have a fear that when my girls are older and look at pictures they will ask which one is which and we won't know.  One solution I came up with was to always place Baby A on the left and Baby B on the right, so years later in those really early baby pics we can tell.  Is this silly?  Can you MoM's tell right away?  What did you do or what do you suggest?  I assume as they get older we will be able to tell them apart, but in the beginning we won't.  Help!!  TIA!

  • My best friend is a fraternal twin and looking back at photos of her during her childhood she is always on the left....to this day if a picture is taken of her and her sister they automatically line up that way.  It is really cute.

  • my girls are fraternal but as babies you could not tell them apart very easily in pictures. I did the same, kept them always on the same side and labeled them right away.
  • I was thinking of doing what PeaKay said and placing A on the left and B on the right for photos.  I know some people assign different colors, but it's just not for me because I don't want to hear down the road "why did I have to wear that color?" : )  I'd rather dress them the same or similar and let them figure out their own preferences with time.
  • even though my boys look nothing alike- in early photos it's often hard to tell them apart --- thankfully we almost always had them on the same side -- ironically, we had baby B on the left and A on the right - because that's how they looked to me when i looked down in my belly :)
  • I'm an identical twin and in all of our baby pictures my mom can totally tell who is who.  Also, in almost all of the pictures my sister was a total ham for the camera and I was just like, yeah, can we get this over with.

So once they are born, even though they are identical, there may be a way to tell them apart.  Or, another idea is to put a string or ribbon one one of the babies wrist or ankle so it's not really obvious, but an identifier for you.

    Best of luck!

  • If they are both in the picture we can tell them apart. But we have some pictures of each baby olone where my DH and I aren't sure.

I love this.  My sister and I are not twins but we totally do the same thing, to this day I am always on the right and she on the left.....kinda funny.  Thank you ladies so much for the help.  I think we'll keep then in A-B order and label them right away once we transfer to the computer. :)

  • My gma would put one of my uncles on one side and the other uncle on the opposite side. Now they are 50 so its easy to tell them apart.
