We have a name

I think we've finally settled on Gabriel James.

The only question that remains is whether on not we add my dad's name as a second middle. Then it would be Gabriel James William.

Yes, we'll call him Gabe. Though my husband prefers Gabriel, so he may use the full name more often than me. I love them both.

Please don't do two middle names. I have two and it is a massive pain in the butt. DH and his brother also have two. I dropped both when I got married, but his is still a PITA.

One is on SSN for me, but DH and his brother both have both. It is a PITA when you do tests, apply for stuff, get bills that need a middle initial and if they have the wrong "one" you are screwed when you need to pull them up, talk to customer service, etc.. For instance, BIL is Logan Fredrick Douglas V. Sometimes they think his first name is Logan Fredrick (a la Mary Beth...first name space no hyphen) and then have D as a middle initial. There is no room on anything for two middle names. When I was graduating high school there was a big to-do about me having to pick which middle name to go on my diploma because they wouldn't do both. I have spent way more time on the phone straightening out crap over this than it was worth.

Okay, this is good to know. My husband and I were thinking that you can only have one on the SS card and so that becomes the official or default middle name and the other one is just there for...decoration I guess. lol

Anyway, my dad passed away this year so we would like to use his name, but I also want my husband's name in there, too.

My SIL gave her daughter 2 middles. I'll talk to her about what they did.

I do have a friend who got around the two middle name thing by giving him a "Mary Beth" type name.

She named her son [Sean Gabriel] <---(first name) John (Yes, Sean=John but her dad is John her H is Sean)

She and everyone call him Sean Gabriel.

I like it! But I liked Finbarr, too...

Sadly, Finbarr got ruined when my husband's friend made fun of it. My husband was afraid that since this guy made fun of it than perhaps Finbarr's classmates would too. I tried to explain that our child's classmates would surely be more mature than his friend. But the damage had already been done.
