Lower Abdominal Pain

Has anyone else had consistent pain in their lower abdomens?  It started yesterday and felt like cramping and it hasn't gone away.  My back is sore too, and I feel like I have some pressure in my pelvic region.  I haven't had any spotting or bleeding at all.  I asked my sister (who is a RN and a mom) if this is normal or if it's possible to have a miscarriage without bleeding.  She told me that it's probably just my uterus stretching, but I can't help but worry since we've waited so long for this baby.  Has anyone else had anything similar to this?

Re: Lower Abdominal Pain

  • I've heard this is normal. I'm having slight cramping right now as well -although I'm much earlier along then you are.

I've read on the board though that cramping can be normal-but anything extremely painful or resulting in bleeding you should go to the DR.

Hope it is as your sister said - just your uterus making room for your baby!

  • I just got my BFP yesterday but I've been having mild cramp-like on my lower belly for three days now and I am also a bit wetter than usual. I've been hearing this is normal but will make an appt and discuss with my doctor.
  • This is VERY common.  It's called round ligament pain. =]

But I know how you feel about worrying unnecessarily.  I've already had a baby & been through this & I still worry about stupid things that I know I shouldn't worry about.  It's a mommy thing. =]

  • especially once you hit 2nd tri you might start feeling pelvic bone pain (kinda like the pressure you're talking about) and that's just your pelvis widdening.  it hurts worse than the cramps but doesn't happen as often.
  • I have had pressure and some pain in the lower abdomen.  I just had my first appt and everything was normal, but it sure freaked me out for the few days I had it. I did a lot of resting on the couch after work and that seemed to help.  Good luck.
  • Me!  I wondered the same thing a few days ago, but it has since stopped and I'm sure it was just normal stretching.  But BOY did it hurt!  It started with an AF-like cramp and moved into my lower back.  It switched between my back and lower tummy and cramped on and off for about three days and then subsided.
