If you can afford it, get the Britax convertible. It is completely worth it, and you won't have to buy another forward facing carseat when your LO gets older.
Only downside of this seat is that you won't be able to snap it out of the car so you would need to have LO in a stroller or wrap or something when you go out.
We got the Graco Safeseat for $100, and I'm very happy with it. I think it's just as stylish and quality as the Peg or Chicco, which both have much higher price tags. (We got a sporty model/color, don't remember which). It's compatible to snap into both our the snap n go and our BOB Revolution. Weight limit is 33 lbs so we should be able to keep DD2 in it for quite some time - hopefully until DD1 is out of her Britax and into a booster. HTH!
ETA: Sorry, thouht you were talking infant seats. I also recommend the Britax for a convertible seat - very easy to install and use. Worth the $. We have the marathon.
Go for the Britax Boulevard. BEST MONEY you will ever spend. I have a Boulevard and a Companion. LO HATES the companion, but loves the Boulevard. We travel 1-1 1/2 hours several times a week and she's happy as a lark.
Easy installation. It adjusts well for infants height. It clenches in slowly so you don't choke your baby, buckling the baby in and out is easier than with a infant seat, and it has killer side impact protection.
Target's having a sale too!

For an infant seat, we use the snugride. It's great, fits in the stroller and I don't have to take her out of a seat for trips to the mall or whatever. It's freezing and snowy here today, (off and on) so that's a plus for us.?
For after the infant seat, I *LOVE* our Britax Marathon. It's great and Layla loves it. We will definitely buy another for Lexi when she needs to upgrade. ?
We have the Peg infant seat, and the Graco MyRide 65 convertible seat. DD prefers the Graco, but the Peg attaches to our UppaBaby stroller, so I use it the most purely out of convenience. The peg is waaaaay too heavy to carry around, but I highly recommend the MyRide 65 if you don't need a portable seat. We got it on sale at BRU and used a 15% off coupon which brought it down to around $100... can't beat that!
it is a bit pricier than some but i like how it has the harness adjuster in the front, head support, cushy foam, and weather boot.
I did tons of research before deciding on this one. Decided this weight limit worked for us because i wouldnt want to carry her once she was over 20lb. I also liked the Chicco Keyfit but it was quite a bit heavier as a carrier. Good Luck in your research!
