DS is at the throwing stage

DS is at that stage where he is throwing everything.  He loves balls and will throw those all the time, which is fine.  But now he wants to throw everything.

What do you do when your LO does this?  We usually tell him that we don't throw (insert object here), but usually he continues.  Do I just keep repeating this to him and hope he gets it eventually?

Re: DS is at the throwing stage

  • We say "we don't throw forks, we throw balls" then hand him a ball. Over and over and over! It works. Make sure to not only tell him what not to do, but give him a replacement behavior.

Ditto... I also act super excited when he does the correct behavior (clap, give hugs, whatever).  I feel like I repeat everything a million times a day.  LOL!

  • My son throws everything too, binky, food, toys, remote control... everything. I have lately been trying to take the object from his hand or stretching out my hand to take the object before he throws it and saying "thank you" when he hands it to me. It seems to be slowly working although he still loves to throw things and laugh when he does it.
