So I know I'm over here a few days early, but 2nd tri has been boring. Anyways, Bil and his Gf just found out that they are having a girl. GF and I have had a LOT of issues, but I'm trying to be the bigger person and let it go. Dh and I have had 5 or 6 different friends offer to give us their baby stuff(swing, sling, bouncer, etc) that they no longer use. Which has been such a huge blessing because Dh and I have been stressing about some of the financial stuff.
Every single person that has passed stuff to us has made it very clear that it is ok if we don't want it; if it's not our style or if someone gave us the same thing that we like better. They have also all told us to pass it along or do what we want with it. So I went through the stuff and picked out the newest, better stuff(some of it was older but still nice, I just felt more comfortable with some of it after reading baby bargains). Then, I called GF and told her that we had all this stuff if her and Bil wanted to come look at it, and they were welcome to whatever they wanted.
Her reply: "Oh. Well, we want the best for our baby so we're not going to use people's old sh!t." This is coming from the girl who smokes a pack and a half a day.
So I explained to her that there was some really nice stuff,(A friend had twins last year and gave us all their stuff) and that some of it was hardly used and still in packages(unopened bottles, paci's, etc). I didn't even really know what to say.
I have NO issue with her not wanted hand-me-down's. I would 100% rather have new stuff for Kori, but I would also like to have money for diapers and food and in her college fund. Besides, if DH and I did decide to buy new, some of it owuldn't be a nice as the stuff given to us. I just get a little upset with her thinking, because they make less than Dh and I and have more bills. They are constantly borrowing money from Mil and Fil(who really can't afford to be helping). I know that their decisions are none of my business, I just needed to vent. =[ Thanks for listening(or reading) =]
Re: Really??(Vent)
Her loss. ?She'll learn. ?Babies puke and poop and then grow into toddlers who destroy everything in their path- there's just no need for *everything* to be brand new. ?I have my things I'm fussy about and wouldn't ever go used on (stroller, car seat, furniture) but things like swings and bouncers and toys? ?Used is the best!
Just try to forget about it, it's not your issue to deal with.?

I agree. Sounds like she is snobby to me! Oh well, that would be the last offer I make to her.
