Northern California Babies

S/O for those with REALLY fast labors...

BoomBoom & MsEmm - wow - those are some fast labors!!!

A MOH also had a fast labor with her first - 3 hours in total - she ended up delivering at home, unexpectedly (her hubby and her doula delivered the baby).  So for her second - she choose to be induced at the hospital - as you not risk that happening again!

What are your thoughts on your current deliveries?

  • I saw your post title and thought the rest of that sentence was going to be, "... what are your addresses so I can kick you in the shins?"  ;)

  • I did NOT have a fast labor.  But my SIL did.  Her first was delivered 40 minutes after arriving at the hospital and most of that was spent begging her not to push.

With her second she was induced on or about her due date for some reason (she doesn't ask questions like I would!).  The induction started at 9 am and she was at 5 cm by 10:30 pm.  I thought for sure she had hours and hours to go.  My nephew arrived at 11:30 pm.  He was bruised from his quick passage through the birth canal. ;)

  • I'm scared of round two, honestly... but I don't think I'd go the 'let's induce to avoid' route unless my OB rec'd it.

As it was, when I left my house, the contractions were down to every 2 minutes and I arrived 5.5 dialated... once in the hospital, progressed to 9.5 in an hour and they had to break my water. the last 2 hours were pushing... (cord wrapped around her neck 3 times).

  • scared as he!!

    ;)

no - honestly I dont think it cant happen much faster. This time,?Im 2 sec's away from the hospital I will deliver at - so if it all happens like the past 2 deliveries,?then I'll head in once I know the contrax are regular. (thanks to contractionmaster.com) ;) Basically it seems like once my contrax HURT that means its time to PUSH. :-|

Its hard though - I dont want to go too early. The pain seems SO. MUCH. WORSE at the hospital and so much more barable at home. Cant chance it though.

With B, felt reg contrax starting around 1230-1am, I was fine walking up to L&D at around 245am, breathing thru each contrax - but by 3 or 330am I was in?excruciating?pain. I know that this is a hard thing to?gauge?but I think I have a high pain?tolerance. My OB made me do the NST's when I was a week overdue I?remember?her asking - youre having a contrax? (because she saw it on the monitor) - I didnt feel much, maybe BH, if that.?

But just because it was fast doesnt mean it wasnt the worst pain Ive ever felt in my entire?existence.

It was pretty much exactly the same time line with Kalina - woke up at 1230-1am just like B - except I delivered her at 454 (B was at 430) - crazy huh???

  • I'm so anti-induction that I'm planning to just ride it out.  I'm already thinking of contingency plans and people to take me to the hospital...and will have the #'s of several cab companies close at hand.  I chose the hospital based on proximity to home and work (it's 5 min from home, 15-20 from work). Part of my concern is that DH works 1 hr + away so, I can't rely on him for transport.

I've been told that AS SOON as I know I'm in labor, I should get to the hospital.

Oh, and I'm planning to work almost up until my EDD so I am planning on having to be driven from work, not home.

We shall see, makes it quite a bit easier to think about being med free when you expect a short labor Big Smile

Quincy will probably surprise us all.  Come a week late, end up getting turned breach at the last minute and end up with a c-section!  LOL
