Where to buy a gingerbread house kit?

I decided last night that since it is supposed to rain on Saturday this seemed like a good activity.  I've never made one before so I never noticed where to get a kit.

    Trader Joes usually has them. I think Williams Sonoma does too and Sur La Tab, but that could be pricey.

    You can get the kits just about anywhere. I have seen them at Target, Walmart, Michaels, etc. Just to warn you, some of the stuff needs to be done ahead of time. I made the mistake of thinking I could take it out of the box and start on it. Yeah...not the case and it never got made.

    we got a great one from Costco this year but usually get it from Michaels with the 40% off coupon. SUPER cheap!

    My aunt got a train one for Tyler this year. She suggested that you put the house/train together the night before so the kids can just decorate it with the candies. Otherwise you (and Sara) will have to be very very patient to wait for it to dry or the house will fall apart.

    Have fun! I think my mom is going to do it with Tyler and his little friend today.

    Great suggestion!  We did have to wait for the house "glue" to dry.

    They also recommend putting up the sides and letting them harden overnight, then put the roof on the next day.

    Also, the wilton one I bought last year at Michaels said all over it "everything included" then you opened it and it called for a cardboard base, powdered sugar, spatula, etc, etc

    I got one at Target for $8.  Everything was included and it's a super fun activity.  O doesn't have much an attention span, so we just add a little to it each day, which is how all our crafts work!  Smile
