Do any of you have any favorite products for childproofing sliding glass doors or windows? We live in a fifteenth floor apartment and have a sliding door to our balcony. We also have windows that open (which seems unusual to me, based on other apartments I've lived in). Our windows open by sliding from side to side, basically like small versions of the door to the balcony.
Although it's pretty unlikely that DS will be tall enough and strong enough to open the sliding door or the windows anytime soon, it's one of those things where the potential consequences if he did open any of them are scary enough that we want to add something to make them as safe as possible. Any ideas would be appreciated!
Re: Childproofing help - sliding glass doors and windows
We are getting these for the new sliding closet doors in Maggie's room, but they say they work for patio doors too. Does your patio door lock?
That looks like a good possibility! The door does lock, but we want something as extra protection against the door being opened. In many ways, the extra protection is for us as much as for him -- to remind us (and visitors) to be careful opening the door and not to leave it open.
