back from hosptial - was dehydrated
I have been feeling the worst I have ever felt these past couple days and started throwing up every meal including water. I was going to ask for Zofran today since I was having my NT scan - so I was just trying to wait it out. As soon as I got in my car to leave for the scan, I knew something wasn't right. I got to the doc and started crying to the receptionist about how bad I was feeling and asked her if she could get me back ASAP. Luckily, my peri is located at my hospital b/c as soon as they saw me, they sent me to triage for dehydration. They hooked me up to IV's and sent me home after about 5 hours.
I am feeling better now. They also put some Zofran in my IV's as well and wrote me a script. I really wanted to go med free, but couldn't do it anymore and it wasn't good for me or my babies to constantly be sick and miserable all the time.
As for the NT scan, everything looks good so far. I won't have my results back for a week, but they said all the babies measurements were right on. No guess on the gender yet.
I do have a killer headache now, but at least I am not puking and nauseous. Yay for Zofran and caring doctors! :-)

I also got a nice water bottle and gave myself mini-goals to get it down. It was not fun but then I got used to it. :-)
staying hydrated is SOOOO important. I ended up having to go get fluids after a bad stomach virus- helped so much.
i filled huge nalgene bottles with water and lemonade all day long... if you are sick of water- making lemonade is a great way to get your fluids --- but better if you make it fresh - so it's not too sugary --- i made it all the time- LOVED it - and it helped keep me kidney stone free this pg.

Same thing happened to me at 13 weeks. I was trying to tough it out, but I too became so dehydrated from throwing up they put me on IV's when I was at the OB. I got a script for Zofran that day. I will say for me it did not take all the nausea away, but it took the edge off so much and I was able to eat and drink water. I still spent a lot of time at night laying in bed watching TV and eating small snacks (mostly pretzels and things) but it was much better than before.
A piece of advice, for most people Zofran causes major constipation. It did for me big time. My OB had me fill a Naglene bottle with water and put 2 heaping tablespoons (the ones from your cutlery drawer, not the measuring kind) of Benefiber powder in. He had me drink 2 of these a day, so that I would be able to go. I didn't do it at first and I paid for it, I did go for almost a week. So since you have to drink a lot of water every day anyway, it is best to add some Benefiber to it.
Also, to give you some hope, my m/s stopped at exactly 16w3d, I just woke up that morning and didn't feel bad so I didn't take my Zofran and I just didn't need it anymore.
