Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Geekchick

Thanks for the info you linked in my post about vbacs last night. I had my dd at Lower Bucks and when I saw the c-section rate for 2006 I was shocked, it was close to 50%, now I feel like I really didn't have a chance for a vaginal delivery. I wish I had known sooner. Oh well, on a positive note Barbara D'Amato has an office close to my house so I'm hoping I can get an appointment with her to see what my chances of a VBAC might be.  Thanks again!

  • Do you live near Valley Birthplace?  If so, you live very close to me!  I'm in Jenkintown and I work down the street from Valley Birthplace.  I saw her get mentioned online for VBACs quite a few times.  Same with the other CNM I mentioned, Ronni Rothman.  Her closest office is in Mr. Airy, though.

  • I'm in Bensalem, so it's about a 20 minute drive for me but it definitely seems worth it. I had no idea there was a birthing center remotely close to me. I really could kick myself for not doing this research the first time around. Hopefully, I can convince my dh that a midwife is the way to go. We'll see, his friend who is an ER doc gave him an earful about why I should have another c-section.  DH did bring it up to him but it was still annoying that he was so pro c-section. It just convinced dh more that it's the way to go next time.
  • Unfortunately, I don't think they'll let you labor in the birth center as a VBAC patient.  I think they deliver at Montgomery Hospital, but it's just a trip down the turnpike!  It seems very nice there, from what I've heard (again, birthing tubs)!

Good luck with your DH.  Remember, it's your body that would be going under the knife, not his.  It's YOUR choice.  And his friend sounds like a turd.  I have heard numerous times ER docs usually want NOTHING to do with anything Ob or gyn related and immediately page someone down from L&D for problems they can totally handle themselves, and it's not his specialty in the slightest.  Here's another link you might like:
