Painful breastfeeding?

I have gone through three rounds of antibiotics for infected axillary lymph nodes. My armpits are swollen and red, and very sore. My doctor does not think it's mastitis because I don't have any other symptoms besides the tender and red lymph nodes. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, has anything helped prevent this??

    Maybe thrush?  If it is untreated it can spread throughout your ducts.  Especially being on antibiotics I would ask.  That's what caused ours.

    I haven't had any kids yet but have had this happen to me before if I am understanding correctly what you are describing. Probably 4-5 times in the last 10 years I have had  lymph nodes in my armpits that get extremely swollen and sometimes it hurts to even put my arm down. I've seen a dr the first few times this has happened and it has been attributed to a stressful time or my body trying to fight off an illness. It usually goes away for me within 1-2 weeks. The last time it happened to me was earlier this year when I was on a 2 week work trip that was very stressful. Hope you feel better soon.
