My OB p!ssed me off today!

I had my Group B Strep test last visit along with my GD test and my first internal exam to check my progress.  We got to the waiting room today and saw that she was 45 minutes behind schedule.  They took us back about 15 minutes late for the appt and put us in another OB's room to weigh and take my blood pressure.  We were told what today's appt would entail, and then told we'd only be waiting in this room for about 10 more minutes until one of her rooms was available.  They never moved us, she came in, measured me, listened to Hank and told me that any regular contractions lasting more than an hour or my water breaking means get to the hospital. End of appt. 

WTF!?!  I found out that she was running so far behind because the road construction in town was causing her patients to arrive late.  I walked out of the office and saw the clock in the waiting room said 5pm.  She was obviously in the mood to get off the clock on time tonight.  So, I'm assuming that I don't have Strep nor GD and we'll find out next week if there's any progress in my cervix.  Just whatever...  I hate having abbreviated appts because of someone else's issue.

    I am sorry. I hate this too...and what sucks..THEY WORK FOR US..WE PAY THEM!!! It really ticks me off....

    One of the nurses always calls me to tell me the results...I don't wait for the next appt.  I thought that was standard?

    This is why I am so thankful that my midwife doesn't have that many patients!!! She chats with me for an hour + to make sure everything is ok physically emotionally etc...

    I would be pissed as well....no matter how far behind they were running they should have given you a rundown on your status with GBS and GD, as well as any progress they may have noted on your internal.  Unprofessional.

    TEll me about it...

    ?last week I was a little excited because until this point, they've been having me come in every 4 weeks. ?Last week at the appt. I was??2.5 days shy of being 37 weeks... ?I thought for sure they would have me come in weekly after that.

    After she told me to schedule the next 4 weeks in a row, she met me in the waiting room and said, "You know, everything looks so great and you're dong so well, why don't you take next week off and come in the week after?"?

    Initially I was feeling good about it because, hey! I'm looking good! ?BAby is healthy, that's great. ?Then I thought about it a bit more... ?I'm going to be 38, almost 39 weeks before they even freaking check my effacement. ?I haven't had an internal yet... ?that's a little odd. ?I'm sure the busy holidays have nothing to do with it... <sic>

    At my 32 week appt they told me my OB practice doesn't start doing internal exams until 38 weeks unless there is a problem.  He said there really is no need to do that...I'm not sure what the standard is.

    I am shocked, there is a sign in my office that says the doctor will take as much time with a patient as needed even if it goes into someone elses appointment time. He is usually on time.

    There is one doc at my MFM office that is CONSTANTLY taking everyone 45-60 minutes late.  The other docs sometimes take me late too (not by that much though), but in those cases, its obvious that there is something going on that is more important than my routine ultrasound.  Its cool with me when things are running late as long as there is a legit reason and someone is courteous enough to say something to me.

    I hear you! I switched to a midwife because of similar problems at a group ob practice, and it still happens...  last night my dh drove an hour to get to our appt and then we had to wait 40 minutes to just see her for 15. And I was under the impression we were going to go through all the hospital expectations, etc. so I spent a ton of time before the appt. writing down questions, and she just gave us a handout! And I had my group B strep test last night so I was sitting half naked under a paper sheet while I was waiting! Ugh basically I just had to vent and say that I feel your pain.
