Early Feb moms who have not had shower yet. come in!

I am having my baby shower on 1/9/10. I am starting to freak out! My mom and sister are putting it all together, and my mom picked the date. I personally wanted it kinda early but its hard working with the holidays. So Jan 9th it is.....

I really have not bought anything other than a crib, dresser, and gilder.... NOTHING ELSE. no clothes, nothing.

Anyone else who has not had the shower begining to feel really unprepaired for LO to come in 8 weeks?

Actually I'm not feeling too bad...but mine is this weekend. The only major thing we have left to get is out travel system (car seat). We still have no matress/bedding for the crib, but LO will not be sleeping there right away anyway. I PLAN to BF, but if that doesn't work we have no bottles yet. Honestly if LO came today we would NEED the car seat, and some diapers/wipes.

I haven't had a shower yet, but honestly, we bought things like a crib, dresser, glider ourselves. We have a few clothes and other little things we picked up off of freecycle. You really can't count on your shower to outfit you. We just didn't want the stress of running out to get the "necessities" last minute.

I haven't had a shower at all and I might not get one due to my mom not really caring that I am pregnant. So, I feel completely unprepared. I have not bought a single thing for the baby yet. I guess you just go with what you have...Sucks.

I just had my shower on December 5th and my due date is Jan. 11th. I got sooo much that we needed I have very few things left to get and only 1 more big thing. And I feel I still have plenty of time to get them.

With DD#1 I had my shower at 32 weeks. I had other commitments that made it ideal to have it that early but I honestly didn't do much with any of it for several weeks. Looked at it overwhelmingly but didn't start going through, washing, setting up for atleast several weeks. I say, focus on getting the room painted and major furniture setup for now because you have that. I am due with DD#2 on February 3rd and though I'm not having a shower I haven't started pulling anything out yet. All clothes are in the attic, need to be gone through and washed. The room still needs major construction due to an ealier leak in our roof and all we have is the crib which is still in the box. January 9th seems very far away but realize that the holidays are in there and the time will FLY by... Enjoy them and then as soon as they are past you, focus on all things baby!! Well, I have closer to 10 weeks, but my shower is Jan. 10. I agree, a little earlier would have been nice - there are times I feel completely unprepared because we have very little right now. However, I'm not buying anything until I see what we get at the shower, and most likely I'll still have a good 5-7 weeks after the shower to get everything ready.

It'll work out! Worst case, if she comes early I'll be sending my mom and sister to the store while I'm in the hospital!

My showers are the first, second and third weekends of January. We bought all the big items ourselves and have a lot of clothes, so we are now on strict orders not to buy a single thing until our showers. There are still a few things that are on my wish list that I really want like a bouncy seat and a baby bath tub and bottles. I am afriad that I won't have time to pick them up if I don't get them or make any returns if needed. But i am very grateful that my family and freinds are kind enough to through me a shower. I think I am going to make a list of NEEDS just in case I end up going into labor before I get a chance to finish up, that way I can have my mom make a trip to target.

I had a tiny one last week, but my bigger one with SO's side of the family isn't until 1/23... I will be 36 weeks.. yikes!!!

I wanted it earlier, but SIL doesn't want it to interfer with her holidays. I don't mind since there will be a nice break in between when the holidays end, I just think I am going to be so uncomfortable.

I have clothes and his car seat so I am not worried about being unprepared.

Mine is Jan 2. We have plenty of clothes already. My MIL always buys the carseat as their gift, so I know that's coming still. We haven't gotten our crib or anything big yet, but, we have clothes, blankets and diapers, and a bassinet... that's what we NEED when we come home with our LO's.

I'm trying to not stress about it. We're trying to find a new house before LO is born, so I look at it as not having to move extra stuff!

Yeah, everyone makes good points, Im sure i will pick up a few smaller things, since i have the big stuff im sure thats helpful. I also plan to BF so thats helpful. Im sure i will have time. i just know it will be here before i know it with all the holiday fun stuff we have coming up!

I just wanted to see what others in our situation have done as far as showers, and who still has them to come! Big Smile

I know how you feel my sister and mom are throwing a shower me and DH. Since my sister lives out of state that date was dependent on when she would visit again. It was suppose to be over thanksgiving but is now January 2. I have some things for the baby and I know my mom has bought an overwhelming amount of items, plus she made the nursery bedding and my father is makign the crib but I still need a lot of stuff and waiting one month out is getting stressful.

My shower is the day after your shower. We have all furniture already. I've peeked on my registry and our close family members have already purchased the remaining items for the nursery. Other things I won't worry about too much. If I get them, I get them. I would like to receive my travel system, pack n' play, etc, but I know those are such bigger items to buy and my friends/family will have to go in on those kinds of things together...we'll see. It'll be alright, you'll be prepared. I think the night of my shower, I'll be up til 2am, getting everything in order and in it's place!

I'm due Feb 18th and I dont think my shower is until Jan 23! Technically it's supposed to be a surprise but I'm sneaky and saw an email with that date.

Now I feel exactly like you do. We have not bought ANYTHING major for the baby yet. No crib, car seat, stroller...nothing but a dresser/changer combo. We were going to buy everything ourselves but our families insisted we put everything on the registry so they could buy us all the bigger items.

So I will basically have 2-3 weeks to get everything set up. Hopefully LO doesn't make an early debut

I wouldn't worry, you have all the necessities, maybe just a carseat and a few onesies and blankets, which I'm sure you'll get at the shower, we had A TON of stuff when DD was born and alot of it ended up staying in boxes for months till she got older.

I am freaking out too! I am due on Feb 24th and my shower is on Jan 23rd... only giving me 4 weeks to complete everything. I could go purchase the things that I am concerned about, however we have a huge family and our guest list is about 80 women. My MIL ensures me everything I need will be purchased... Ugh I have no idea what to do.

I'm due Feb 4th and my shower isn't until Jan 10th. I'm a little freaked out, but nothing I can do about it. We have the crib and the dresser and unless I get the car seat as a christmas gift I'll probably go buy that before the shower

My sister is planning to throw mine on Jan. 9 (Due Feb. 6th). The holidays made it difficult to do any other time. We have the crib, dresser (using one we had), glider, stroller, and car seat. So I think if LO came early we would be okay, but I am stressing about what I may still "need" after the shower.

That's when my shower is. We don't have many clothes - I think all I have is some hand me downs, which include a variety of hats, a snow suit type thing, and TN vol cheerleader outfit, and a onesie that is 6-9 mos.

No diapers, no onesies. We have the crib set up but no mattress, no bottles, no wipes, no lotions, so we're in the same boat!

I'm not freaking out because I know that if we have to, we can send people out to get stuff. It'll all fall into place.

My son was due Feb 13, 2007 and I didn't have my shower until Jan. 29th! I was definitely freaking out and it was very stressful b/c I was nesting big time and felt like I didn't have anything prepared and couldn't really prepare until after the shower. But it all worked out fine of course and I had plenty of time to make the returns I needed to and get everything ready. I'm sure it will be the same for you, so try not to stress too much.

Yep. Due Feb 7th, first shower is on Jan. 3rd and I feel way unprepared. DH and I thought we were going to be moving shortly after she gets here, so we didn't paint the nursery or anything. Now we're not, so we're painting the nursery next month. I have LOTS of baby clothes thanks to hand me downs from friends, and we have a crib and an infant carrier, but that's it! Crossing my fingers that everything falls into place in the next two months .

I think mine is this saturday..i'm not suppose to know about it but i noticed things bought off my registry already..i think it's suppose to be a surprise..my husband started pointing out that i have been cleaning every day this week and kept asking me why..i told him this house is messy..i think he thinks i'm starting to nest or something..i know somethign is going on because he told me i cant make plans..we actually got a lot of stuff used from craigslist..and a friend is goign to give us more stuff come in a few weeks that they dont need anymore. we have just basic things though, a swing, an extra car seat and stuff we bought on blackfriday like bottles, bouncy seat and a small high chair..I didnt think we have a lot..like i have clothes but i dont have more then 5 of each size..i keep getting bits and pieces of things. We still need a lot though..
