I was going to do new rims for his dirtbike but when I found out that they run around $700 ($275 for just the rim, not including the spokes) each, that was out...so, now I am back to square one!
So I'm only planning to fill his stocking with cheap, little (and mostly also practical) goodies...razors, a disposable flask, guitar picks...that sort of thing. Sorry I can't really help.
Does he have any interest in playing guitar? I could have my husband recommend a really good beginner (or intermediate or advanced) guitar (long shot, I know...trying to help)...he's reeeeally good at stuff like that and has done TONS of research to back up that sort of thing.
meg and i are working on a photo wall for him from the mommy & me shoot and i'll get him some car stuff and raiders stuff ...
Love - a wildly misunderstood although highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brain, causes the eyes to sparkle, cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to pucker - Author Unknown
Probably clothes. I keep telling him he needs to get a hobby so buying gifts for him is easier. Work is his hobby, but I can't buy him anything related to that and he likes tech-y gadget-y things, but I can't think of anything he doesn't have that I can afford.
I have squirreled away a couple of long sleeved t-shirts for him. He is desperate for clothes so whenever I see something I like for a good price I snatch it up. Otherwise, he was eyeing a little tool kit of some sort, so I might get him that. Oh, and probably some pics or something homemade from the boys.
i bought him a surround sound system for the house. he is going to crap his pants when he opens it- he has wanted it since we moved into our house a year ago! i cant wait!!

What about you start a hobby FOR him?!? In advance of our wedding (ON a golf course!) I bought DH golf lesson's (through the parks 'n rec) so that he could actually play a round on the day of our wedding.

I got DH some clothes, a Saws All and a 360 game. He does work around the house, right? Does he need some new tools or a tool box? What about something he could do with the pups - like agility classes or something like that?
I think the major problem with DHs are that they either buy themselves what they want and need or they only want really big or expensive things. At least that's been my experience. Good luck!
I had this same problem last week. I ended up finding some sunglasses (I happened to find a replacement for a pair he really liked that broke over the summer), a sweater and a subscription to Sports Illustrated. Considering I almost just got him a giftcard for a golf shop, I was quite proud of myself!

I tried that. The GC for golf lessons I gave him 2 years ago has yet to be used....
I have no idea what I'm getting DH because he said he didn't want to really do gifts from each other this year but I went and got him the new Tony Hawk Ride game for the Wii from my mom. DH skates and he was really interested in this when he saw it. If we had the money I would get him a lift kit for the Jeep.

DH wants a metal detector. Not a cheap a$$ one. It is $1,000. He keeps hinting on which one he wants. Unfortunately, I can not afford it. Plus, we put an offer on a house so I am trying to spend as little as I can just in case we become homeowners soon.

Sounds like our hubs would get along great! My hubs likes dirtbikes and everything for that sport is outrageous. What about gift cards for restaurants? You could make it a fun Christmas morning by doing a scavenger hunt for them...start the first clue in his stocking....and end with the last clue under the tree.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
Like some of the other pps, my DH's "hobby" is his job. He does love sports though and all things related. He's super tough to shop for so I just got a bunch of little things.
I did find this Sport's Illustrated Puzzle book that he'll love as we always fight over the People magazine crossword puzzle books.
I got him a gift card to IflySF, for indoor skydiving. He's expressed interest so i thought it would be a fun gift. My friend who is dating one of his best friends is getting her BF one too, so they can go together. He wants this 200$ laptop bag backpack...but it isn't really in the cards to spend that much one person right now. I hope to get it for him before his next tour.

I was completely set on getting him video game accessories...they have a keyboard that attaches to the controller for his PS3 and a bunch of games/gift cards for games that he wants. Then he was talking about this track jacket he likes (he has a million different ones in every color) and its a Pittsburgh Penguins one (his all time fave hockey team) and how he really wants it, but couldn't justify spending $120 for a track jacket. I CAN justify spending that much on something he will really love and use...unlike a bunch of video game accessories he will think are cool, then probably forget about.
Updated DVDs for his truck's navigation. His truck is 4 years old and our street isn't even on the current ones he has. I looked into it and they were so expensive, and then checked again and the price was way more reasonable.
Some clothes, new Nike athletic shoes, one of those Shutterfly collage pictures framed from DD and if he really is good...and if Mrs Claus drinks alot of eggnog...he will get something that he really wants (OMG did I just type that!)
I got him a black pea coat, grey sweater, work shoes and argyle socks from Macy's. Two new automatic skeleton cased watches that he has been wanting. The new Harry Potter on blu-ray and some sterling sliver collar stays from Tiffany & Co.

Re: What are you getting DH for the holidays?
He bought himself an iMac a couple weeks ago.
