I just realized that, since putting K on my health insurance and paying for her daycare (coupled with the 20% paycut my husband just took!), we suddenly have much less money in our account than ever before.

So, I want to know: how much do you have in your bank account after paying bills, loans, savings, etc.?

    DH lost his job in Aug. so our income was cut over 60%, we are dipping into our savings each month right now since his severance has run out. So we are negative after paying bills and are even using the credit cards to pay a few as well. Yuck

    I keep our checking account balance really low and put anything that's left over after paying bills into savings.  Then if I ever need a bit more for groceries or incidentals, I just pull it back out of savings.  Our savings has a much higher yield than our checking so I'd rather the money sit there.

    Holy crap, you get paid monthly?  I wouldn't even know how to manage the bills that way.  I get paid every other Friday and DH gets paid twice a month (15th & 30th).
