Babies: 0 - 3 Months

anyone else's LO have this issue?

My LO usually goes to bed between 10pm-12am. He has been sleeping for about 2-3hrs at first, then he's up...then usually 1 1/2-2hrs again, and after that he is fussing and needing to be picked up/burped/fed/changed every 40mins or so after that. after 4am or so I am only sleeping about 20-40 minutes at a time until he's up for the day between 9-11am.

When he's up every hour, he's not always crying. he starts squirming a lot and fussing and grunting, and I will usually let that go even though it wakes me up. But we're talking every 10min or so he's acting irritated and gassy, so I can hardly sleep through that.

I'm exhausted. Does this pass? He has been doing this since he was born, and I don't even know how he's doing okay on this little sleep because he is up for 10hrs or so every day.

  • DD also sort of does this. From about 6-10 am she is still asleep but grunts and moves around so much I can't sleep through it. I don't know what to tell you but good luck! Hope you get some advice!

  • Well you probably don't want to hear this since my lo is over 2 months old, but yes she still does this. Some nights are worse than others, but for the most part, she sleeps about 4 hours right at first and then wakes up to eat. After that she is usually up every hour or so grunting and fussing, then around 6 she usually gives me another 3 hour stretch. Every once in awhile she will have a good night, I think it's gas. I would just try everything you can to reduce gas. =( Sorry, hope it gets better soon.
  • She's started doing this lately. I never know whether to pick her up or not. I usually just stick her pacifier in her mouth and pray that she goes back to sleep.

    this is my life

  • my life too!  My LO is 4 weeks old and gives me a 3-4 hour stretch from around 10-2 but then is up alot for therest of the night either "eating" (using my nipple as a pacifier) or grunting so much that I can't sleep.  Eventually the grunting turns into crying though.  I hope this passes soon!

This sounds exactly like our nights. Sometimes we'll get lucky and he'll fall back asleep for a few hours after the 3am feeding... but usually, I'll put him back in the crib, he'll wake up after 45 minutes or an hour, and I bring him to bed with us. From that point on, we're playing the "paci game" until the next feeding, maybe dozing for 20 minutes at a time.

  • My DD is exactly the same - it's good to know we are not alone and there are other struggling moms :)
