I am pretty unhappy with my RE and am hating his staff right now. For those of you going through IVF, how often to you actually meet with your RE? I need to know what is the norm...
We see ours for appointments to discuss protocol etc. My RE didn't do our ER and wasn't going to be doing the ET, because they work in teams and it was the other REs day. However, she did call me yesterday and today to discuss our embies.
My RE has done ever one of my follicle scans himself. We meet after the scan to discuss. Then he did my ER this morning and will so my ET as well. So, I see and talk to him at every single appointment.
I go to a larger practice that runs out of a hospital. I saw our RE at the start of the cycle when he told us about our protocol and answered questions.
After that my nurse was my primary contact. She checks in with the RE about the results of my scans etc, and he gives her the instructions to give to me. I love my nurse so this model works for me.
Since it's a larger practice, the doctors take turns doing ERs and ETs. Another doctor at the practice did my ER and still another did my ET.
I guess if we end up having failed cycles I might look for a doctor who is more hands-on with patients, but this works for me now.
Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!
TTC #2 After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
I have seen mine for appointments to discuss proctools and I can meet with him at any time if H and I want to. Our clinic works in teams as well so he may or may not be at ER/ET. So far he hasn't done any ER/ET at all. But with that said I do like the other doctors on the other teams and have come to know them so it's ok with me.
I hardly saw mine, but this is probably the price I pay for seeing the head of the practice when he travels between three different sites. My RE did my ET... That was the first time I saw him all cycle. A different Re did my ER. I mostly saw the nurses for follie scans, but saw the RE that did the ER for a couple of them.
the regular sono tech did all the other scans and i like her so far so that was ok by me....
i asked and was told that each doctor (2) in the practice has his patients and wouldn't swap off for ERs or ETs unless it was an emergency...i also like having the same person do all my sonograms.....

We had been with this RE for 3 months when I met him for the first time for a file review. I haven't seen him again. Although I did set up another appointment for a face to face in January so that I had time set aside to discuss this cycle with him (we are in the process of IVF). So I guess that means we will have seen him twice in 6 months?
I've seen mine every single time except for my FSH test and my HSG test. Other than that she has been at every appt. My RE is wonderful!

I see mine every time. He does all of the ultrasounds himself. The only time I might not see him would be on a weekend when they rotate who is on duty between the four doctors in the practice. My RE is really great though, during this cycle he even made special arrangements for me to be seen early for my monitoring appointments so I'm not late for work.
