Re: Do people really keep weapons in their bedrooms?!

  • We do.  DH travels a lot, I live on the border of a "could be bad/could be ok" neighborhood...::shrugs::

  • Sorry but, I got this on 3-6

"oh wait this is a NO gun question.. well luckily DH collects weapons and there are weapons placed around the house in safe places so it really just depends on which one is closer."

WTF? WTFF? Where does SHE live?

  • DH keeps a mag light under the mattress just in case he needs some light or to pop an intruder on the head.

  • I have a softball bat under the bed. It's in a box with my other equipment, but I suppose I could use it as a weapon if i *needed* to.
  • I have a bliliclub/nightstick (?) on my side of the bed. I'm a much lighter sleeper so I'd be the one taking down someone who tried to get in. Lol

We do this too! Those things could really hurt someone!

  • I leave all my doors unlocked to lure in intruders so I can blast 'em.

I'm all for a gun but, that seems like a little much.

lol what kind of weapons are we talking about here. And, imo the only safe place is a locked safe with a combination that the child doesn't know.

I can't imagine, looking around my house right now - being able to stash a weapon 'around the house' that DS wouldn't be able to get AT SOME POINT ... kids are good at finding stuff. Sounds like a recipe for disaster IMO.

  • Just the riffle in DH's pants...I kid, I kid....
  • All of our guns are outside in a safe in DH's shed, dismantled.  But I do keep a massive hunting knife in a sheath in my nightstand drawer and a bat under the bed.  I have huge stranger danger.

    zomg.  ::DYING::

  • I'm not sure why that's so hard to imagine. There are so many accidental shootings all the time, lots of people must have guns in their living quarters. And I"m sure these people live all over the place- city, country etc. Our safe is in our bedroom, so our gun is too by default. We dont have it for protection, it's not loaded and, as stated, it's in a safe. So it's not like we put it under our mattress (Tongue Tied to the poster who's husband does this).
  • I do. I used to live in a really bad area of Columbus, Ohio and were broken in a few times.  If you're familiar with the area, we lived in the Hilltop and Franklinton/the Bottoms.

I now live outside of Columbus, Ohio in a really small rural town.

I keep the gun locked in the headboard of my bed.

  • When we lived in SW DC and lived across the hall from a drug dealer who had visitors at all hours of the night DH kept a knife under the mattress and a bat by the door.  Now that we're back in Kansas all the "weapons" are back in their normal places.

  • we do.  my husband was a cop, we have pretty much any weapon you can imagine...besides a samurai sword.
  • We do. H is a police officer and carries a gun anywhere we go.
  • DH was navy and really big into weapons. we don't have any guns, YET. i'm not opposed to having a few, in a safe of course. and when we do get one, i will make sure my kid(s) are well-versed in safety.

  • We do have on in the bedroom.
