DC discount for 2nd child?

Hi - I haven't posted much lately but I was hoping you girls could help me out.  One of the parents of the children I watch is expecting and I will be watching their baby next year too.  I thought that the norm around here was a 10% discount for the second child.

What discount do you get if you have 2 children in DC?  And is it a center or in-home?  And full or part time?  I just want to make sure I am being fair to my parents!  Thanks!

Re: DC discount for 2nd child?

  • Last year when I had 2 at the same in-home daycare our discount was 10% off the 2nd child's fee.  They were both there full time.

  • Our in home daycare does not give us a discount. Her prices are great so I did not expect one. But another in home daycare that we visited offered a 10% discount for the second child and so on.
  • We'll get a sibling discount of $25 off our total bill for the week.

  • Our center offers 10% discount on tuition and waives the second registration fee ($100).

  • I have two children in the same center and my discount is on the first child.  We get a 10% discount off of the lowest tuition which, for us, is my preschooler.  We pay the full amount for my toddler, which is a higher base tuition.  We are full-time in a large center.
  • Right now we are at an in home day care and we get 20% off the second child. When we were in a center they were going to give us 10% off the older child's tuition (because it was cheaper than the infant tuition).
  • At a center, 10% discount off the lowest rate (so off my preschoolers vs my toddlers rate for example), we go full time.  We get a corp discount which is better since I get 10% off each child vs just 10% off the less expensive one.

  • I think somewhere around 10-20% is standard. Of course, our center doesn't offer that, but I know of other centers that do. And also the waiver on the registration fee.

  • That's what I get... 10% off the cheapest tuition (DS#1).
