envy.

i envy those of you who get to live in the cold weather.. yes, im sure you all are sick of it.. snow.. rain.. storms.. etc.. but that doesnt happen here in CA.. it rained a few days ago, but that was it.. we are supposed to have some rain on thursday..

and ive NEVER been to the snow.. so im pretty jealous right now of those of you who have snow days... Stick out tongue

really though, seeing the seasons change is awesome! especially when fall first sets in here!

Allow me to cure you of your envy. I got up at 5:00 this morning to play the heat, scrape, wait, heat, scrape, wait game with my car. I slid about 10 times on the way to work, big rigs splashed slush on my windshield when they passed so I couldn't see. I walked like a tightroping idiot to try to keep from falling while melting snow sloshed into my boots and down the collar of my shirt. I dropped my purse in the melting snow and the contents of my wallet are still on the heater drying out. When I get in my car after work, I will be in a full body shake until about halfway through my commute. Then, when I get home I can pay the 3-digit heating bill or I can wear a full sweatsuit to bed and turn on the space heater - all the while sleeping with a fire extinguisher by my bed b/c I don't trust space heaters near carpet.

Envy cured? LOL

It's nothing to be jealous of. It's a pain when the trucks don't get the snow off the ground in time. It causes such headaches at rush hour. Last year, it took me 3.5 hours (instead of 30 minutes) to get home because of a snow storm. It sucks around Christmas because parking spots are taken up by plowed snow and from snow drifts.

LOL Sorry, I re-read that and it did sound harsh. Sorry. I will say that it is nice to see snow outside at Christmas (as long as I'm inside with hot cocoa and don't have to be driving anywhere) Wink

Hey, that's why I convinced DH to move back to Columbus Ohio after we graduated from college.. I was born and brought up in the desert (Middle East) and then we went to college in Florida- I LOVE the snow and the changing seasons! You sound like you need a northern babymoon with your SO!

To add to the list of possible "cure" stories...

We carpool & SO was an hour late picking me up from work yesterday because of the traffic the snowstorm caused. Then, what is usually a 30 minute drive home ended up being 2 hours. Keep in mind that I live in MN where snow is common & we are well prepared for it (plows, salt, 4WD vehicles, etc...).

Other than that, I like the snow. I think it's pretty. I could go without the strong wind & cold we've got today though.

ETA: Oh, & I didn't get a snow day today either. *pouts*

Just go to Tahoe or Big Bear for a babymoon...Tahoe just got 6 feet of snow....and it snowed in Sacramento!

I live where there's usually snow. We finally got some today, but it's melting. I wouldn't be too envious. We don't get "snow days". Boo urns.

Let's switch places for one week, you will be singing a different tune I bet lol!

Winter here is not like the movie's where it snows and you go outside to play in spring jackets. We get -40 (Celcius) combined with wind and blowing snow and white outs and freezing rain. It is not pleasent.
