  technically, u/s is the scan and sonogram is the image produced.... but people just use the word u/s more commonly...just like xrays are the beam used to produce the images, which are called radiographs...but everyone calls the images xrays

  my doctor is the only one i know that uses the word sonogram.      everyone else (even my super-fertile SIL) says ultrasound.
