I had my baby shower on Sunday, which was fabulous. The girls got a tonofshit.
However, we didn't get one single pack of diapers (!!!) and I got 2 packs of newborn onesies and two cotton pants for each girl. That is all I have in the way of newborn clothing at this point. (I do have some 0-3 from Gymboree that I bought awhile back, though.)
How much newborn clothing do I need? What types of things should I get? How long did your babies wear newborn stuff?
Thanks for any advive. I am off to the doctor, but will check back when I get home!
Re: need help post baby shower re: newborn clothing
it's really SO hard to know how long they will be in newborn- all has to do with how much they weigh at birth, how well they eat, etc. But having twins = a chance that they will be early and smaller - so you'll need a decent stash of newborn stuff. If you have a carters store near you they are GREAT about returns even without receipts- so you could buy a stash there and then return them if you don't need them (just don't wash too much ahead of time!).
my guys were not in newborn for long. I even had a few preemie outfits for them just in case --- they wore them the first week they were home- and then grew out of them. They were not preemies - but they still fit them in that first week - instead of being really big like newborn and 0-3mo clothing would have been.
DD was 9 lbs at birth, and wore NB clothes for a week. I know the twins will be smaller just by the virtue of being twins.
Either way, I don't intend to have many outfits. DD spent all of her early days in sleepers, and that's what I intend to do for the twins as well.
I second the recommendation for Carters - they're clothes are soft & comfy, and they're great about returns.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
My girls are 3 weeks old and I find long sleeved onesies (to put on under their outfit, full-cover jammies (with footies), and newborn gowns are the things I use the most. The outfit They are about 5 &1/2 pounds each, so I use newborn sizes right now; 0-3 months are WAY too big.
