Can someone point me where the pets board is?
Toby has a cold - yes, a cold. I wanted to see exactly what I could give him and what dose. It has gotten a lot better, but I hate hearing the clogged, snotty throat sound. ![]()
Any ideas? Have you girls given your dog any type of medicine? From what I've read, it sounds like just a regular cold. They can typically be caused from excess bacteria, and he just got over a bacterial infection about 10 days ago.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
Re: Pets Board?
yup. they mean business over there. that's why I asked here. You'll probably get yelled at for having a designer dog. lol. Just say you rescued ;-)
is the snot clear? or green/yellowy?
gracie had a cold last week... wheezing a bit with just clear snot. we didn't take her in or give her anything. she just slept a bit more than usual, we gave her rest, and she got better on her own.
now, several months ago, she had TONS of very green snot pouring out of everywhere and she could barely breathe. we took her to the vet then and it turned out to be pneumonia, so we were glad we did (even after paying for the x-rays... sigh....).
Because we're fancy like that.
Hahahaha! They might die if they heard that we bought him at ::gasp:: a pet store!!!!!!!!!!!! We were 22 and didn't know any better.
Maybe I should have added to my post that we're Humane Society volunteers.
Now, I'm scared of what their responses might be......yikes!
PUPPYMILL SUPPORTER !!!!! OMG, you'll go down in flames. lol.
(my stupid brudder paid $1K for a "dug" at a Pet Store. idiot. It's a dachsaund (sp) and pug mix. dorks. )
Hahaha! I know........it's awful. We always feel better because the pet store wasn't in the best part of town, so we still feel like we "saved" him.
Please don't be scared. I spend most of my time on the Pets board, so I know the reputation that they have, but please know that there is A LOT of knowledge on that board and - for the most part - the snark and attitude comes from women who spend the bulk of their free time cleaning up other people's messes and trying to save animals' lives, which can be extremely disheartening and frustrating.
Recently the board came together to raise almost $900 for a resuce to pay for surgery for a stray Lab that one board member found on the side of the road one night. He was limping and had a bad break in his left front leg. Thanks to the support from the "Pesties," the dog had surgery and is now recovering well and waiting for his forever home. (I'm actually going to be fostering him starting this Saturday, so if anyone here knows of anyone looking to adopt a young adult yellow Lab, let me know!)
Sorry to highjack your post (and not even give any helpful advice!), but I just wanted to give a shout out to the Pets ladies. It's not always the friendliest place, I'll admit, but they know a lot and do good things over there.

Wow.. yeah, those of us on the Pets Board don't support puppy mills and buying from pet stores.. But there are also some regulars over there who previously got their dogs this way before they were educated on exactly where these animals came from and what was being supported by buying them in this manner..
But anyways, my advice would be to take your dog in for a check up at the vet.. they can give you some antibiotics if needed, etc. And here's a link to the Pets Board, should you want it:
