For those with same sex outside babies

How did you tell them apart at first? This might be a dumb question, but it really worries me.

My boys looked different from the beginning but that doesn't mean in the throws of sleep deprivation, we didn't make mistakes . Even their cries were different...

Boys are so much fun! At the moment, we have a momma's boy (loves to snuggle w/ mommy and always looks for me in the room) and a daddy's boy (runs to the door when daddy gets home and could play "wrestlemania" for hours). And their totally playing together - esp chase and wrestle.

my boys are as fraternal as can be- look TOTALLY different- even 2lbs apart at birth... yet- in the middle of the night i can remember a few times I really thought I was feeding one, and it turned out to be the other one -oops! lol

i have hear ID moms will paint one baby's toenail.... or dress the babies always in certain colors.... I know if I had ID's I'd have to do something like that- not necessarily for me (at least not for long)... but for my family- considering it took my mom a couple months to tell my boys apart- and again, they look NOTHING alike! lol

we dressed them differently

kept their hospital anklets on

kept them in birth order in the crib

wrote on the bottom of their feet

put hats with their initials on

as far as i know, we never mixed them up.

I was going to ask this question as well. I am nervous I am going to get them confused. I thought we would leave the hospital braclet on as long as we can. Another question is what did you use to write on their feet?

My guys were about a pound different at birth and stayed that way until their one year check-up. But, they looked identical at birth otherwise. I usually tried to keep them in the same position - like in the same swing, same car seat, same side of the crib, etc. Now they have VERY different personalities, but I still get them mixed up sometimes, especially when they are wearing hats. : )

Sofia and Ava look different. Plus Sofia was a little bigger. We put them in their cribs as soon as we came home and that helped with not confusing them too. They each have a specific crib.

At first they were in the NICU and we couldn't tell. I painted Joey's toenail blue (because Joey was blue and Nathan was green) for the first couple weeks home. They also wore their hospital bracelets for awhile. After about a month I could easily tell them apart. Now I don't think they look alike at all unless they are sleeping or smiling at certain angles. Don't worry you will figure it out. They look so different to me that I honestly have a hard time believing they are ID even though the DNA test and everyone around me tells me they are!
