Breastfeeding

Having trouble getting started with DD #2

I breastfeed successfully for 6 months with #1 and I remember things being tough the first couple of weeks, but with DD #2, it seems to be 10 times harder than I remember. She seems hungry all the time and since my milk hasn't come in yet, she gets extremely frustrated and fussy. I am commited to breastfeeding her too, so I am sticking with it, but I am sad because I thought things would go smoothly since I am not a first timer.

Anyone else have trouble establishing breastfeeding with #2?

  • She is 2 days old and it is comon not to have milk yet, mine took 5 days but the LC I saw said to call if not in on day4. Are you pumping? You can pump and give it to her via syringe. Hang in there it is hard to wait but just keep putting her to the breast and your milk will come in.

  • my milk didn't come in until day 4 with DD....just keep nursing. If she's getting really frustrated put a drop or two of formula on your nipple to get her 'interested' in latching.
