carseat for small car

What convertible carseat do you recommend for a smaller car?

I have a Subaru Legacy and right now with our Graco Snugride it fits, but I can't have the front seat all the way back.  I'm worried about it being worse with a convertible seat.

TIA!

  • Do you have the carseat in the middle of the back seat?

FWIW that is the safest position.  I have a Honda Accord and had no troubles fitting my graco snugride in the middle and my britax blvd behind the passenger seat we did have to move the passeger seat up a bit but it wasn't too bad.

I do not have it in the middle because the latch things are on the sides and the middle isn't completely flat which I didn't think was safe.

take it to a carseat inspection and see what they say.  ours is in the middle and there is no latch there--they said it was still the safest with the seatbelt,

wow that is good to know...thanks!
  • I drive a Subaru Legacy as well and our Britax Marathon fits rear facing in the middle seat. However, it is quite large and HEAVY. I recently bought an Evenflo Titan Elite for DH's two-seater Tacoma and it fits great. It's also much lighter for traveling.

Hmm, I never had a concern about putting the seat in the middle. The carseat sits flat and tight when used with the LATCH.

  • I drive a VW Beetle and from my research I had 2 options for my small car.  Britax Roundabout and Cosco Scenera.  I've got the Roundabout ordered and will install in the next few days, so I can't give you a review yet.  But if it's doable in a Beetle it's got to be ok in a Legacy, right?

  • Thank you guys so much, this is so helpful.  I don't know why I thought the middle was weird, but I will try it since you got it to work. Thanks!
