At my 36 week appt (2 weeks ago) I was 1 cm dilated, 50% effaced and baby was head down. I was just happy to hear numbers after carrying this baby for 8 months.
Then I had my 37 week appt last week. I was measuring 37 weeks and I was now 2 cm dilated, still 50% effaced and the baby dropped even more. The dr could feel the baby's head while doing the internal. I was feeling good about the progress. I know that women walk around like this for weeks and can go past their due date, but still I was happy with everything.
Today was my 37/38 week appt. In the middle of my appt, my stomach did this huge shift. My husband and the physician's assistant could not believe it. She measured me and now I was reading at 34 weeks. She thought maybe the baby dropped down more. Then she did an internal and couldn't feel anything. She sent me to get an ultrasound and sure enough she flipped. I could not believe it. So they told my husband and I that we had to make a decision that moment. Either schedule a c-section, schedule an aversion or do nothing. We scheduled the aversion for thursday morning at 8am.
Has anyone else experienced a baby to flip this late in the pregnancy? I know babies can always turn, but looking for some positive feedback. I was planning on having a natural birth and its a little frustrating, but what can you do when the baby has a different plan:) Since this morning, I have gone to the chiropractor, did the plank and the polar bear pose. In an hour I am off to take a bath and put some cold peas on my stomach, just hoping she will turn before the aversion!
Re: Baby went Breech in the middle of my appt
It is possible to change the position of the baby through your posture and positioning. Check out this website spinningbabies.com for information on how you can do just that and still achieve your natural birth.
How crazy!
Fyi--it's a version, not an aversion.
oh my! I hope exterior methods work for you.. I can't believe baby flipped this late.. you'd think it's really hard considering they have no room left.
Sending flipping dust your way!!
Thanks for your thoughts and comments. It was a little frustrating yesterday. I did see the chiropractor yesterday and have an appt with an accupuncturist tonight. Last night I did lay on an incline, the polar bear pose and sat in a warm bath with frozen peas on my belly and none of that phased her.
I really didn't want to do the version (thanks for the spelling correction:) ) but since I am at 37 weeks and 5 days, I am running out of options and if I wait too long to do the version it will be too late to try it and can cause more issues. I am worried about the risks, but the dr told me that there is only 1% chance of an emergency csection and a 65% chance that it will work. I am hoping for the best!
