Question for those with lactose intollerant LO's

Do you have to switch to formula or is BFing still an option. DH is lactose intollerant, and I'm not sure if that means it's more likely LO will be too so I'd like to educate myself beforehand.

Re: Question for those with lactose intollerant LO's

  • i became very LI in the last week of my pregnancy, so when i had stella and she was gassy, i knew i had to stop with the lactose. For me its cheese and milk. I still BF. but when i have givin her formula it has been the infimile soy. its the pink can. You wont know till you have her. Try adding it to your diet, and see what bothers her.

  • I was going to BF DS but was unable to.  When I went to the BF class though, I asked about this b/c I had problems with lactose as a baby.  The nurse teaching the class said to not eat any dairy (therefore there won't be any lactose in the breast milk) and the baby should be ok.  If you switch to formula or have to supplement both similac and enfamil make lactose free formulas.  DS is doing great on enfamil's ProSobee after having problems with the regular formula.
