I went in for my 35 week midwife appointment and it looks like baby girl is breech. I will go back a week from today for my GBS test and another ultrasound and if she has not turned, on Wednesday the MD in the practice will do an external version to try and turn her. I need this kid to move!! I have a midwife I love, a doula I love and really want to have a vaginal delivery. Have any of you had the external version? If so, how was it? Did they do it in the office or at the hospital? I went to my chiropractor and she did some techniques to try to encourage the baby to move. I will see her daily until next week. I also went and saw an acupuncturist and will see him again on Thursday. I know there are a ton of exercises and other things I can try. I have all kinds of questions now that I have left the midwifes office...grrr.
Re: My baby is breech....ECV anyone?
with DD #1, I was told that the ECV process is extremely painful and only works about 50% of the time.
You still have a little bit of time, so hopefully she'll flip without you having to try that particular technique.
Here's a link to a similar thread from this afternoon: Version Thread
My LO is breech too and although I was offered the version, I'm opting not to due to the cord risks. I have a doula and had my heart set on a natural, med-free birth but, I've learned through this pregnancy to also prepare for the unexpected.

i saw one done on a baby story and it looked worse than the birth itself.... and that baby wasn't completely up - he was only sideways... i dunno - if you have your heart set on it and a really high pain tolerance, do it... but in the meantime, i hope all of the other things work and the kid flips!!
GL and I hope baby moves for you before next week!
Just wanted to update you on how mine went this morning. It was unfortunately unsuccesful but well worth the shot of trying. It was painful yes, but tolerable. I would do it again next week if they wanted me to just to get this baby to flip! But I think I will end up scheduling my c-section. They monitor the baby's heartbeat before, after and during the procedure and constantly check on the ultrasound machine the baby, the position, etc. So I felt very safe for me and the baby. My baby seem unphased by their attempts to turn it. I think the head is just too big and it just seems happy to be in the position it is in. Good luck if you decide to do the ECV! I hope your baby flips for you!

Thanks so much for the update. I am sorry it was not successful for you. What a bummer. Maybe your babe will flip on its own, but either way I hope you have a safe delivery. I am going to the chiropractor daily, to the acupuncturist again tomorrow, trying ice packs, lying with my hips up in the air, doing pelvic tilts, belly massage and praying! I figure she will turn or she won't and I will do the verson if necessary. After all those things, if she still does not turn, then at least I can say I tried everything. A c-section is not the end of the world, although I really want a vaginal delivery.
