way to make me feel like crap

so, I went to lunch with a friend today and there a couple of things worth mentioning. She has a daughter 6 weeks older than Hannah.

First of all, we were meeting up at a Wings place, so I brought lunch for Hannah so she'd have something healthy to eat (peaches, apples, and peas) and then shared some of my grilled chicken sandwich with her. My friend ordered her daughter a corn dog and french fries. OK, fine, feed her what you want - not my business. But THEN she asked if Hannah could have some of her daughter's lunch and I told her no and she barks at me with "OMG you're child is going to be sooo BORING!"

Secondly, my daughter is very shy around new people and so she just kind of watched everybody. the ENTIRE time, my friend is like "hey, do this. do that" and then looks at Hannah like she's slow or something b/c she's not performing. Please don't take this as me being jealous b/c I am not, and Hannah does all of the things her daughter does. It's just frustrating that for an hour straight all she did was have her daughter show off. I am in a play group and meet with those moms several times a week and NONE of the other moms act like that.

so, what was supposed to be a fun lunch ended with me feeling like crap. boo.

Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months. Lilypie First Birthday tickers

  • Awwww! Don't feel like crap! She's the one who should feel bad about the lunch...you don't make children "perform" for you. That's ridiculous. And if boring means she'll eat healthy foods, my son will boring right along with her!
  • Oh don't feel like crap.  There really is no reason to, you know your daughter best so it ends there.  Don't let another mother make you feel like crap ever.  You don't need your daughter to 'prove' herself to your friend at all.  Cheer up:)
  • i hope you are ending the friendship. what a douche.
  • Yuck, the thought of feeding my baby corndogs and fries repulses me :(  I'd be boring right with you!
