Re: whats your biggest labor fear?

  • as weird as this may sound mine doesn't have anything to do with actual labor...I have been told we are having a girl and I am totally set on that.  I am afraid that when the baby comes out it is going to be a boy.

  • When my nephew was born, a nurse yelled "He's not breathing". He turned out to be ok, thank God. But I would freak if I heard that.

I tore with my first. Didn't even feel it, and the stiches were like nothing. Don't worry!

  • We're using midwives this time around and my fear is not being able to make it all the way through without drugs.  I nearly did it natural with DD, but then labor stalled, and I opted for the epidural after 16 hours.

  • The epidural.
  • I'm terrified something will be wrong with LO and there won't be a damn thing I can do about it. Not only will I not be able to do anything about it but I'll be stuck in bed, scares the sh*t out of me.

  • Having to have a C-Section or not hearing the baby cry.

  • Aside from something being wrong with LO, I'm most afraid of progressing really slowly and having a longer than average labor and farting- don't ask me why that freaks me out more than pooping, but it does...lol.
  • Anything wrong with baby... other then that, I'm just fearful of pee'ing and poopin' after!!

  • I'm not really afraid of labor..... but the whole recovery process scares me.

  • The epidural and tearing TERRIFY me!

  • I'm terrified of a c-section which the OB has recommended so far. So terrified that I pushed back and we're going to do yet another u/s at 36 weeks and reevaluate our options then.
  • I'm afraid of major tearing. It all sounds painful, but when the childbirth instructor explained 4th degree tearing, it just sounded unbearable.

  • That I will be stuck in the bed with back labor again.  With my first, I was ok on the birthing ball, but once they confined me to the bed I needed an epidural.

  • Having a c-section. My MWs are very conservative and natural, so if you end up in a section, it is likely to be a true emergency.

  • I'm afraid of seeing the placenta.  I haven't seen it the other two times, but from the way my DH describes it, I would puke all over the place if I saw it.  I know, stupid.

  • My fear has to do with postpartum. I had horrible pubic bone diastasis that caused severe pelvic girdle pain, which made walking, laying down flat, and sitting up very painful. It didn't show up until 3 days after delivery and my OB thought it was my lower spine so they treated me for a month in physical therapy for the wrong thing... which made it much worse.

So needless to say I am worried that it will happen again. But at least this time, we know what it is, and isn't!!!!  Also tearing is no fun, period.

  • Well since I've been through labor before, I know what to expect. But, I had a fourth degree tear with my DD and I'm absolutely terrified of it happening again. I won't go into too many details, but it was awful, horrible, and something I never want to experience again.

LOL, this is what I think when people say pooping on the table is their worst labor fear.

  • Not hearing the baby cry.  And actually going into labor on my own seems scary to me.  I've only had inductions and I loved how controlled and pain free they were.

I had a fourth degree tear with #1 and honestly it wasn't that bad.  That doesn't really scare me anymore although obviously I'd rather not tear.  :)

  • I think that tearing or having an episiotomy are the two things that scare me the most about actual labor. However, I am more worried about the recovery period after labor. I'm not looking forward to the weeks that it'll take for my body to start to feel back to normal.

I guess my mind set is that I can't do much about what may or may not happen during labor, but I know it's going to drive me crazy to not be able to speed up my recovery time.
